David Maynard and I are researching the same families but our line divided with the children of David Maynard (George C and David T) Thanks, Earle Boardman >> Hi Earle, Our Index to the Huron County, Ohio Cemetery Inscriptions lists about 40-45 MAYNARDS in Edwards Grove Cemetery--- a little too lengthy to include here. However, you can view this same index for yourself. 1. Go to the HCC/OGS home page (www.rootsweb.com/~ohhuron). 2. Click on "Archives" in the table of links at the top of the opening page. 3. Click on the category of "Cemetery." This will give you the Index to the Huron County, Ohio Cemetery Inscriptions. 4. Click on "M-N." 5. Scroll down to the surname "MAYNARD.) Those buried in in Edwards Grove Cemetery, Ripley Township, will have a page number 817 through 834. If you find there's just a few MAYNARDs you missed in your visit to the cemetery, let me know and I'll send you the inscriptions. Regards, Ken Shute, in MD (kwsroots@aol.com).

    1. [OHHURON-L] Don't go alone when transcribing cemeteries!!!
    2. Mary McGinnis
    3. Don't go alone when transcribing cemeteries!!! A woman in KY, an avid cemetery hunter did what no gal should do. She had heard about a cemetery in the woods long sought after and went by herself . It was way off the beaten path. She found the cemetery and was getting ready to mark the names and dates down when she heard a click on either side of her. She was on her hands and knees. She looked up and saw a fellow on either side of her with a rifle, cocked. In her excitement, she had been pulling up grass and weeds to clear the stones. When she glanced down, she saw what she had been pulling ... their "crop" ready for harvesting - the illegal type of hemp! Thinking quickly (and likely praying a lot!) she turned on the tears and said "Oh, I hope I'm not trespassing ... I'm just so happy .... THERE'S GRANDPA!" "I've hunted for his grave for years (sob, sob), and there he is, oh Grandpa!" They took one look at her and just walked away. Never go cemetery hunting alone!!! By the way, she didn't have the foggiest idea of who was buried there, but bet her real grandpa was proud of her! Author: Sandi Gorin

Anne, There is no, to my knowlege, a searchable death index; however, if you go to the Huron County Web site(http://www.rootsweb.com/~ohhuron/) and scroll down to and click on Look-ups, at the bottom of the look-ups page you will find an individual who will look in their copy of the chapter's publication: Huron Co. 1. [OHHURON-L] Peter and Catharine McMahon
    2. Dear Listers, I believe I have just found my very illusive family of Peter McMahon. Peter McMahon and wife, Catharine McEnerny disappeared from Lawrence County, Ohio in the 1890's. Children in the 1880 census of Ironton, Ohio were: Catharine, age 8, Thomas age 7, and George, age 4. In the 1910 census of Huron County I have found Catharine McMahon, widowed. Children: Thomas, George, Peter, Mary, and Lucy. There is a daughter, Catharine, missing but she may have been just out of the household. Sound familiar to anyone? Regards, Anne Marie http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~menard/mcenerny/index.htm
