I know Susannah died before 1850 and Aaron sometime between 1850-1860. Aaron is last found in the Lorain County census of 1850. I wondered if you might look in your cemetery inscription book to see what Ordway's are there. Thanks so much, Dianne jck4@bright.net Hi Dianne, I didn't find an Aaron or a Susannah. There are 14 ORDWAY's listed. Most buried in the Collins Cemetery, Townsend Township. I notice the ones's I checked are more recent dates. If you will send me first names of any others you want looked up, I will be glad to help......Nancy
This web site is a for-profit - if you want to purchase a picture, book, or old family Bible. There are a lot of Ohio and Indiana people listed. The searching through the names of photographs is free. The sponsors are genealogists out of KY. I received this through an IN site I am on. Of course, I found nothing - but the list of names available is large. http://users.erinet.com/31363/fordand.htm Mary McG in Tennessee
Hi, Judy There was a Baptist Church at East Townsend, Townsend Township, Huron County, at approximately where the most recent addition to the fire station is, but a little north and east , on the lot where the state park used to be. That church was moved when the state took over the property for a roadside park, and it was moved over to a new location on the south side of Route 20, along the east side of Hartland Center Road. It sat there for many years and was used as a barn/garage, behind a house on Hartland Center Road formerly owned by Mrs. Alice Stacey. It was still standing during the 1970's, but has since been torn down. My Dad, Hugh Griffin, owned the former buggy shed for that church, and it is still standing on his former farm, at the northeast corner of Route 20 and DeRussey Road. The Collins United Methodist Church was formerly the Methodist Church at East Townsend. It was a very old frame structure, built before the Civil War. It stood along the east side of Hartland Center Road, north of the town hall building. This old frame Methodist Church building was used for many years as the Townsend Grange Hall, after the "new" brick church was built on its present site next door to the former Townsend School on Hartland Center Road. The old frame church/grange building became badly deteriorated due to its extreme age, and was razed some years ago by a controlled burning, by the Townsend Fire Department. Thanks for all of your work. You are doing a fantastic job. Sometime (in your spare time, Ha Ha) maybe you could have a section on log houses/buildings which are still viable, though modified in appearance. There are still some old log houses still being lived in, in rural areas of Huron County. Very interesting. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Judy Kelble" <jkelble@accnorwalk.com> To: <OHHURON-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Saturday, January 13, 2001 7:48 AM Subject: [OHHURON-L] Plat Maps > Hi All, > Well, Ken has been busy keeping me busy.... > We now have Greenwich, Lyme, Norwalk, and Ridgefield Township Plat Maps > on-line. Hi All, We had a suggestion passed on to us that makes a lot of sense. We will be adding a rough map of Huron County to the Plat Map page. It will have the two letter abr. so you will get a better sense of where your ancestors owned land. In the mean time, while waiting for this particular project to be completed, have you visited the Maps and History page already in place? There you will find several links to wonderful histories with many ancestral names included. There are three different links to be found here and if you had ancestors in Huron County early in the 1800s, these are all must reads.
