Any information that you might be able to uncover would be greatly appreciated. I descend from his son, Elisha LEWIS, through his daughter Eliza S., who had been born in Sandusky, OH, in the event that that location may be of some assistance to you. 3. Hi Gary I have BOWER/BAUER ancestors in Huron Co OH. My GGGrandmother was Clarissa BOWERS, her father was Silas BAUER/BOWERS, and she had a brother also named Silas as well as other siblings whose names have escaped me so far. The BOWERS in my family ended when Clarissa married Rufus LOVE in Huron Co in 1821. Rufus and Clarissa were in Huron thru the 1840 census, when they disappeared from the face of the earth! I suspect there may be a bunch of folks between your mother and my Clarissa, if there is a connection at all. That's the part that's called "research." I would start by subscribing to the BAUER and BOWERS mailing lists. Try this: http://lists.rootsweb.com/index/surname/b/bauer.html http://lists.rootsweb.com/index/surname/b/bower.html http://lists.rootsweb.com/index/surname/b/bowers.html You may just find a couple of cousins. You will find: 1870 Bird's Eye View of Norwalk, by Merchants Lithographic Company 1888 Panoramic Map of Bellevue, by Burleigh Lithography Est. After the first click on the map, you can then set it to zoom in on any area. The railroad and Civil War sections of this site are also interesting. Tom Neel
