    2. In the library of New London there is a picture on the wall of the 12th Ohio Independent Light Artillery could be a reunion picture. I emailed librarian Kelly how to obtain a copy she did not know. My GrGr Grandfather was in that regiment. Does anyone know how to obtain a copy of this picture? Thanks, Kathy Lyons.

    3. Hi Kathy, My great grandfather, Ashley Barrett, was in the 12th Ohio Independent Light Artillery in the Civil War. His Uncle, Ransom Barret, was also in this unit. What is the name of your GGgrandfather? I have a copy of a photo of "New London Soldiers in the Civil War". In the center of the picture is a group of veterans from the 12 Ohio Independent Battery taken at a reunion on 26 Sept 1889. Surrounding this picture are 16 larger pictures of veterans, not all of which are from the 12th battery. Do you think that this is the photograph that you saw in the New London Library? My Mom has the original. What I did was to copy the entire picture, and then I expanded the central photo so that it was easier to see the men in the 12th battery. If you want me to, I could scan the copy of the photo I have and send it to you as an e-mail attachment. I don't know if the quality would be all that great, however. Let me know if you would like me to do this for you. Maybe this would be better quality than what you have now. 3. Kathy, get someone with a good digital camera to take a picture of this picture. We did that at a library, and it turned out quite well, as they would not take the picture out of the frame to get a copy. 3. Ann, could you send me the rest of this wonderful poem. Tomorrow the 26 Mar. will be the 24 th annv. of the day my dear Melodie Jane was killed in a car wreck. She was my niece but she was mine, I'm the one that held her on the way home as a new born babe, my children didn't know her by any thing but Sissie. She was 20, in her second yr. at Indiana University. The night before she died, she told her room mate, that she had been kissed by god. If anyone has one they would like to sell or someone could tell me where I might be able to obtain a copy I would very much appreciate it. "Picturesque Huron County Ohio, 1896" Many thanks, Jerry Long >> Hi Jerry, Have you tried ebay.com? Were you aware that biographical and portrait information contained in this book can be found on the web site for HCC/OGS (www.roosweb.com/~ohhuron)? If not, and until you get your hands on a copy of the book, go to the web site , then scroll down to, and click on, "Pictures." This will bring up the page "Celebrating Huron County, Ohio in Pictures." Next, scroll down to "Picturesque Huron." Under this heading you can then click on either "Portraits" or "Biographies." These bios and portraits occupy a relatively small (but valuable) part of the book. Most of the book is devoted to pictures of residences and other buildings of Huron County. It is divided as follows: 1. Pages 2-270---------pictures of residences and other buildings. 2. Pages 271-281-----portraits of those whose biographies follow. 3. Pages 281-290-----brief biographies. 4. Pages 291-295-----Index of Views (see 1. above). 5. Page 295-------------Index of Portraits (see 2. above). 6. Appendix, Pages 1-15--------Geographical Index. 7. Appendix, Pages 16-18------Biographical Index (see 3. above). Regards, Ken Shute
