OH. Ann was probably born around 1779. Ann UMPHRY has been found in the Huron Co. Cemetery Inscriptions. Thanks for any help you may be able to provide. Pat J. Iowa - WARD Descendant >> Hi Pat, Our Cemetery Inscriptions for Huron County, Ohio shows the following: Steuben Cemetery, Greenfield Township. Page 135. Section 1-- Row 6. 17 Ann_____, w/o Aven Umphry (?) d. 5 Oct 1830, age 22 y. This Ann would have been born ca 1808, just one year shy of the marriage date (1809) of your Ann, so it would appear that the inscription details don't fit your case. Also, the first name of "Aven" might be hard to corrupt for "Jacob." This Ann is also buried in the midst of a family with surname "Easter." I could find no reference of your Jacob and Ann Umphry/Humphrey, in our other Huron County, Ohio publications. Regards, Ken Shute
Ken, Thanks for looking for info on Ann WARD UMPHRY and Jacob UMPHRY. It does appear that this wouldn't be the Ann UMPHRY I am looking for. I will keep looking. ;-) Thanks again! Hi Ken: Thanks for the look up you did. I have records of everything except the death record of PATRICK RYAN. How do I go about getting a copy of death record? I know EDWARD RYAN father was PATRICK RYAN, but I am not sure if he came to this country. Maybe if I had a copy of the death record it would tell me if he is the father of EDWARD RYAN. I am also trying to find out where ANNA WALTERS & EDWARD RYAN were born in Ireland. Thanks again: Bill Paret e-mail:wmparet@aol.com

You could write the Probate Court, Huron County Courthouse, 2 East Main St., Norwalk, Ohio 44857 for a copy of the Hickey/Bump marriage record to see if it might have the information you're looking for. I understand there would be a small charge for this service. In addition, in our Huron County, Ohio Cemetery Inscriptions book, there is a stone with an inscription for Emmett P. Hickey. It appears in the Grove Street Cemetery, New London Twp: Page 417, Section 1- Row 3. 18 Emmett P. Hickey, Mus'n, Co. A, 10 ME Inf. (GAR marker) ( no dates given). Hello, Just wanted to let you know that I will be going to several Huron and Erie County cemetery's over the next couple of weeks doing photo's. If you have a headstone that you would like a picture of please e-mail me privately and I would be more than happy to do this. thanks, Norma PMiller864@aol.com
That's true.
there was a person that contacted me privately said he had a scanned copy from his mothers original. he said he was going to send, I have not received as of yet. If you don't mind, I'll wait a little while, if i don't receive from him, would it be ok if i email you at a later date to see if you could do that for me.? Also, do they have alot of genealogy things there? My brother and I may be attempting to come down that way in a few months or is it better to go to Norwalk? Thanks Kathy.
If get a digital photo of the 12th Ohio Independent Light Artillery picture hanging in the library, would it of general interest? If yes, it might be a good addition to the photos on the web page. Maybe we're cousins. Not only do I have HERALDs in Steuben Co, IN, but LOTS of Soules. Lets see what we have in common Phyllis
Mary, Could you tell us what drew these people to Branch Co Michigan. Or maybe what they had in common. I also have traced my family from Huron Co Ohio to Stueben Co Indiana to Branch Co Michigan. My family name was Letts/Lutts and Soule. Ruth At 10:35 PM 03/28/2001 -0600, you wrote: >You are welcome too, Bobbie. Ruth, I don't really know what to say about this. Michigan wasn't a state until about 1836-7, But some folks came for the early party, hee hee. They got land from the government, and this land was covered with lush prairies, hardwood forests, many lakes, lots of game and rich soil for their crops. Need I say more ? well, a little. Branch County is centrally located between Detroit and Chicago, on the old Saulk Trail, which was an indian trail between these two major cities. The highway US 12 mainly follows that old indian trail, and if you look closly, you might still see a couple of trees that are wrapped together....the indians marking the trail by twisting together the young saplings... From the upper Ohio area, the waterway to the west, and all, many folks traveled thru this lower tier of counties in Michigan on their way westward. I hope this helps you picture the beauty of the area. Ruth, was there someone you wanted me to look up ? Please give one family, or a couple names...and a timeframe....if you have specific info for me to work with, that's good too. Bump View Image OnlineT Image: 2744 State Filed: Ohio Widow: Mary A. Hickey Relative: Emmett P. Hickey, Gdn When viewing the image it appears that Mary was a widow and Emmett was her guardian.
