Just Like Old Times, Book II, by Henry Timman, published originally in the Norwalk Reflector Article titled: "Tracker John Rule" dated Jan. 7, 1977. The article describes John H. Rule as a blacksmith by trade, but also an expert tracker of escaped criminals in the early days of Norwalk. He was a native of Scotland and came to Norwalk from Cayuga County, NY in 1832. (Following the above, the article continues with a description of how John Rule tracked down two criminal fugitives) The Rule family in Norwalk lived for a time on Whittlesey Ave., just north of Washington St., but made their last home at No. 54 North Foster St. This home was the home of their son James H. Rule who was an employee (or owner at times) of the former EXPERIMENT newspaper in Norwalk.. Also mentioned in this same article: The John H. Rule family, consisting of wife Deborah and several small children, came to Ohio from Cayuga County via the Erie Canal and Lake Erie. Mrs. Deborah Rule was one of the several "Mothers of Israel." These selfless women spent hours nursing the sick, soothing the dying, dressing the dead for burial, and more cheerfully, washing and dressing newborn babies. 9. Just Like Old Times, Book VI, by Henry Timman, published originally in the Norwalk Reflector. Article titled: "The weather got nasty this time of year in 1859," dated May 29, 1987. Mentions James H. Rule as the owner of a grocery store in Norwalk on East Main Street. Hope this fills in some holes in your family history. Regards, Ken Shute ([email protected])

    3. Hi Andrew, Fritz Rd. used to be a part of Rt. 99. When the state decided to straighten Rt. 99, the new road went behind Rich Fritz's home. They renamed that little stretch in front of Rich Fritz's home, Fritz Rd. At the time his father Alvin Fritz lived on the other side of Fritz Rd. This happened in the 1960's or so. 3. Hi Ken, I cannot begin to express my gratitude for the work you did and the info you sent. That was a lot and I am so grateful to you for it. I am almost (is that fair) sure that this Huron County Reuben is the right one. I have a few reasons too: 1. The physical resemblance between the Huron County ones and ours is absolute. I had a picture up of Abraham Stotts on my computer and my husband walked by and said, "wow, did you realize this man looks like your dad?" hummmm 2. Reuben Stotts of Huron County died of diabetes. My grandfather has it. I know that can be considered flimsy by itself, but when put together with all these other things, I think a picture begins to emerge. 3. This Reuben is the only one who is anywhere near a right age to have fathered the child. Of all of the 4-5 I have found, he alone is the only one who is not 70 years younger, or 9-10 years older. He was 24 years older than Rachel Clark, disgusting, but possible. 4. Certain personal characteristics are undeniable. I asked my psychologist cousin if it is possible to use personality traits as a means of research and he said absolutely as many of the psyche traits are familial etc. It is very interesting some of the patterns I see in the Huron County Stotts people and my own people. 5. The sister Ella was a circus performer it is true. Somewhere I got the idea that she was somewhat of a contortionist. Well, I am one of the most limber people I know. So are some of my sisters and other Stotts women that I know. I used to do all kinds of contortion type things (not on the grand scale of Ella I am sure, but you get the idea!) in gym class when in H.S. (a long time ago). I am still quite flexible at the age of 47. I cannot think of anything else at this time except there were truly a lot of little details in that info that you sent that I did NOT know. I am so grateful. Thank you again, Karen STOTTS Myatt
