No, since the census enumerates by NAMES, Children's Home will be there but not indexed as such. Your best bet is to try a reverse look-up. In order to do this, you need to know the address at the time of the census. Thanks, Dianne. I don't think the ones from St Paul's Catholic Cemetery are mine but I'm sure I'm connected to most of the ones from Woodlawn Cemetery. I found some obituaries last night in the Cleveland Necrology File at http://www.cpl.org/linkslibrary.asp?FormMode=DBSubCategory&ID=178&CatID=3 From them I learned that James A. BROOKER (founder of the Brooker Brothers Forging Co. in Norwalk) and his wife Kate E. BROOKER were the parents of James F, Ernest A, Arthur and Russell. Are the other Brookers on the same pages (Carol, Henry, Baby Boy and Freda) likely to be buried with my Brookers (and therefore related) or are they just on the same page because the book is sorted by surname? Carol could be Ernie's wife but I haven't come across the names Henry or Freda before. I assume "USNR" stands for United States Naval Reserve, but what does "CCARP" stand for? Thanks again. Hello list, me again, I thought I'd take another chance on someone knowing something. But didn't feel this needed to be in with a name search. To start, my mother spent part of her early years in the children's home. ( born in 1934, and left OH somewhere between 1939 and 1944) She wasn't bad, but I think she was neglected. So her and sisters(or maybe just one) had to go there. She remembers being taken in at Christmas time by a couple (or family) that would let them write their christmas wish list on a piece of paper and then burn it and send it up the chimney. Magically her wish was there waiting for her on Christmas when she woke! She asked for a play iron, ironing board and doll. Wow....... that story really touched my heart! She just told me this today. I wondered if any of you heard of a family that did this? She doesn't know their name. Remember the time frame: 1934, and left OH somewhere between 1939 and 1944 Unfortunately, when she went back to the children's home......her things disappeared. So did the matching "Shirley Temple" dresses that her and her sister had. She remembers seeing other kids wearing her dress at the children's home. My mother has a book to write(in her head)........I just wish she would! You know, out of sad and poor times, came the most wonderful mother! Inspite of her up bringing, she became a great lady!
