The only church in Ripley that I am aware of is the Ripley Congregational Church with the Edwards Grove Cemetery. A sister, Ida Sclesta Tilton, of my grandmother, Lucy Belle Tilton, married a William Carpenter, 12/9/1903. I'm wondering if he is a descendent of ASA or ORBON CARPENTER. Does anyone know the answer to this question? Jim Pettit

I just read the reply by Ken Shute concerning the marriage certificates at the court house. I must be confused about something, as I thought the vital records in Ohio now were only available as certified copies and were $15 a piece. I know I had purchased some before the law change. Is it only birth and death certificates that are $15 now? I thought marriage records were included. Thank You Ken Schute. You have been a big help. I have been at that so called "Blank Wall" For a long time on this branch. You have given be so good lead to go to. We did have a big Decker Beal reunion every year before WW2 but while we were gone, the group decided they wanted a new historian. He forgot and left the book on top of the garbage can in the back yard and the rubbish man took it. It was a very complete history of the families. It seemed it was almost intentional If there is anything I can do for you in the San Diego Area just let me now. I am grateful and humble. For an index to the inscriptions contained in the Huron County, Ohio Cemetery Inscriptions book, click on "Archives" then click on "Cemeteries." Finally, click on the category containing the surname of interest, e.g. "C-D" for Carpenter. Scroll to the list of Carpenter names and you will find "Asa Carpenter" appearing (3 times) on page 813 of the Inscriptions book. Regards, Ken Shute ([email protected])
