I had been curious about that statement and figured the particular descendant offering the information was in error. My ancestors were listed on the 1840 and 1850 censuses as living in Paint Twp, Holmes Co, OH. Although they DID immigrate after 1824, I figure these farmers were concerned with the land and how crops would grow; not whether it was part of Wayne Co. or part of Holmes Co.
