Dear Listmates: I am seeking information on my ancestor Alexander TWADDLE and his wife, Elisabeth RAMAGE and her brother Abner. Alexander and Elisabeth arrived in Holmes county with their family in 1822. Alexander bought some land in Paint township but soon sold part of it to his brother-in-law, Abner RAMAGE, who came from PA. Abner married a Sarah CUSTER a cousin of General George C. and settled in Holmes for some time. My immediate questions are for anyone who can answer them: 1. Where is Paint township? Does anyone have a township map for the county? 2. Holmes co. was formed in January 1824 from Wayne, Coshocton, and Tuscawara counties. From which county would the land that includes Paint township derive? I have made a Lookup request for any Deeds involving Twaddle or Ramage transactions to Phyllis Gauss. If the deeds are earlier that 1824, I am afraid that they might be in one of the other founding counties, nest pas? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you George Twaddle [email protected]
