Hi Everyone I just wanted to take a moment and fill you in on some happenings in Holmes Co. The Holmes Co Gen Society has been actively working towards making Holmes Co records more accessible to the public. This has included the microfilming of county records from 1824 -1900 through LDS and the preservation of books and materials. With the completion of the Holmes Co History book and its subsequent sales we have been able to house our collection of materials in the former Nashville Library Building. These records and materials include: the original records from 1824 -1900, records on Indiana, Illinois, as well as other areas outside of Ohio. We have materials on many counties in Ohio and a growing collection of materials from our Mother counties, Wayne, Coshocton, Tuscarawas, as well as Knox, and Ashland. Most materials available on Holmes County are available at this location as well. We staff the library with volunteers and have regular hours two days a week through the first of November at which time we go to sleep for the winter with the exception of appointments and special requests (we have electric baseboard heat!) We have a nice computer system provided by the Friends of the Library (Nashville), our own copy machine and a beautiful location that is easy to find. The library can be reached at 330 378-2314, we do not yet have internet access but will have that as soon as the computer is out of the repair shop. The hard drive crashed one week after the warranty expired! (GO FIGURE!)
