    1. [OHHOLMES] Searching for Harry Stone
    2. Larry & Julie Stone
    3. Continue to search for any information on my grandfather, Harry Earnest Stone, b.approx. 1874-1876, killed in New Albany, Franklin County, Ohio June 7, 1910. On his marriage certificate he listed his place of birth as Holmes County, Ohio. No record has ever been found. Census records from Franklin Co. indicate that he listed his father from Pennsylvania and Mother from Ohio. Harry is said to have fought in the Spanish-American war, returned to New Albany after the war and married Alice May Williamson. He had beautiful handwriting, seemed well educated, was secretary of the New Albany, Ohio IOOF lodge, but worked as a farm hand at the time of his death. There is some thought that he may have been in trouble with the law or was running from his family. Also possible that he was born in Holmes County but changed his name or was originally some variation of "Stone" , ie Stein. A relative, now deceased, believed Harry had once said that he had shot a man in an arguement o! ver a dog, and there is a story that he once said that his parents names were Jacob and Rachael. Neither of these stories may be true. Question if he may have come from an Amish family. He had a tatto of a handclasp on his arm, the symbol of the IOOF lodge. Have one very treasured picture of Harry in a suite and derby hat. If any of this information is familiar to anyone doing research in Holmes County please contact me. Desperate for any help. Larry E.
