In the 1860 census, a Shearer family is listed as no. 1436/1458. The head of the household is listed as John, age 28; a woman Sarah, age 50 is listed next, then several children. I believe we descend from one of the children listed in that household, Thomas, age 17 the time. Three members of the Bolling family are also given as residing in the household. Does anyone know anything about this family -- where they are from, who the Bollings are, whether Sarah is the mother of all the children listed but is widowed? These are the questions that come to mind. I would appreciate hearing from anyone who can help me sort this out. Thank you. Janet
Janet - did any of your Shearer family go to PA? I have some information on a Samuel Shereard/Sheared (spelled various ways) whose father was a John. Samuel was b. 1810 in PA. Only reason I have this information is because this family and my MARSHALL family were supposed to be close friends and came to NE together from PA. I have a compendium article about this Samuel.
