The 1840 census for Paint Twp, Holmes Co, Oh includes two HORINEs: Christian and Albrecht, both living just a couple houses from each other. On the census they are listed thus: Christian Horine, age 40-50 yrs. old one female 40-50 yrs. old one male 15-20 yrs. old one male 10-15 yrs. old NO OTHER FEMALES Albrecht Horein, age 40-50 yrs. old one female 40-50 yrs. old one female 15-20 yrs. old one female 10-15 yrs. old one male 10-15 yrs. old My ancestor was Christian Horine (Jr), b. 09 July 1826; his father was Christian Horine, b. 1790. I'm fairly certain Albrecht's two daughters were Catherine Horine (b. 22 January 1828) and Susanna Horine. Catherine married John Jesse Buckmaster; Susanna married Johann Jacob Brunni. The only OTHER Horine male I've found "in this area" during this time frame was John W. Horine. His descendants list his birth at 1824. Quite possibly he is Christian (Jr)'s brother; just haven't been able to prove it. On a side note, John W. married Mary Margaret Markley in Tuscarawas Co, OH. In 1850, Ludwick Markley and wife, Mary, were living with John and Mary Margaret Horine in Sandy Twp, Tuscarawas Co, OH. Anyone connect to any of these folks? Cindy Kimes
