Dear Seekers: To find all the lists/digests one can subscribe to, go to: http://www.rootsweb.com/~maillist/ and/or http://users.aol.com/johnf14246/gen_email.html Personally, I prefer the digest format: one msg with a bunch (usually) of individual messages included...less 'clogging' of incoming msgs. into one's computer when one subscribes to many. And - you can scan down the messages that are included in the Digest - those that don't interest you, ignore: those that do, click on. Good hunting - good luck! Shirley: [email protected]

Good Morning List Members: Have checked and did not find on the Holmes County site a list of publications about the County which can be ordered. Is there a list of publications available and where do I find them? Thanks, Dixie (Jennings) Greenwood
I wondered if any listmembers might be able to tell me where I can obtain copies of (or just view in person) the original probate records dating from the 1850s? Would this be in Millersburg - or possibly at the OGS library in Nashville? I couldn't remember just what records might be stored in Nashville. I ran into a problem with the film I ordered from the FHC (#2050346, probate records P-Shreves, 1833-1860). While I was delighted to find several dozen pages on my Seabrooks family, none of these pages could be focused, and hence were totally illegible. I could tell these were for Seabrooks only because of the large handwriting on the "index tab." In rolling through the whole film, it appears the entire reel was filmed out-of-focus. I'd surely like to be able to view the originals of these records!!! Thanks, Susan Franks Leininger
Dave is still in New Mexico and is out of the research business. When I last spoke with his daughter a couple of months ago he was still recovering from a major stroke of several years ago. I believe, from what she said, that his research days are probably over. I do not have an address but will see if I can locate one through his daughter. -----Original Message----- From: Sharon Bryant [SMTP:[email protected]] Sent: Saturday, January 27, 2001 1:53 PM To: [email protected] Subject: Looking for Dave Marshall Hello, Is Dave Marshall on-line? KINGS X Guess it too early in the day, my missile should have read the "Engagement for Gullick and Marshall" Gerald and Betty S Gullick of Taylor, AZ, announce the engagement of their daughter KRISTY L GULLICK to TROY E. MARSHALL, son of David K and Lea E Marshall of Lake Buckhorn. Now this has to be after David and Lea moved to AZ, I know I had received a letter from them along with the copy of a newspaper item. If I find that letter, I know it is here because I don 't thow anything away, I will share it with you. Sorry for the goof, Pat
Good Morning All For the life of me, I cannot find the address for Dave Marshall, I know I sent him a printout of my Downs'..what I do have is an Engagement announcement of their son Gerald to Betty S. Gullick of Taylor, AZ. Son of David and Lea Marshall of Lake Buckhorn. Wedding was set for June 6 in Phoenix. No year given but at that time, it reads that Gerald was attending Grand Canyon U in Phoenix and was employed as a library tech at Fleming Library. Dave sent this to me before they left Ohio so if any of you have the time to look further, this is all I have to offer. For sure if I find an address, I will pass it on. Oh yes Davids wife Lea worked and transferred with the Walmart Co. Pat

Sharon: Don't know if Dave Marshall is on line or not, but would also love to hear from him. I heard last when he moved to AZ in about 1996. He did work for my Mom back in early 80's on our EWING line in Holmes and for me later on. I heard from a friend in Phoenix that he had a mild heart attack soon after moving out there but that he was recovering. I am a descendent of John Barkey and Susanna Buzzard Barkey. I have extensive records on the family and would be happy to share. I wonder if there are any descendents still living in HOlmes CO? Rachel who married a Mumma had a large family living there in the mid 1800s. My Gr grandfather was John's son George, who moved to Indiana in 1860s. Mary Henry.
I'm new to the list. Seeking information about Westley Eugene Armstrong b 1830 and md Tabitha L. Critchfield on 11 Jun 1855 in Holmes County. Seems to have disappeared after their marriage. Ralph from OK
Seeking information on the family of SAMUEL and ELIZABETH NORTH, to Holmes Co., OH, from Allegany Co., MD, in 1831. Lived in Holmes County until 1844, when they reportedly moved to IA. In August 1850, Elizabeth petitioned a MD court, giving place of residence as Holmes County, stating Samuel had died, intestate, 1848. Inquiry to Holmes Co. Probate Division discovered no estate records for Samuel North, nor guardianship records for any infant North children. Although Elizabeth stated she was of Holmes Co. in August 1850, no Norths appear in the 1850 Census for Holmes County. The North household was listed in the 1840 Census of Holmes Co., Mechanic Township, as follows: Sam North 1M-5 / 1M 10-15 / 1M 30-40 / 1F-5 / 2F 5-10 / 1F 10-15 / 1F 15-20 / 1F 30-40 In 1830 Census of Allegany Co., MD, Samuel & Elizabeth had no children; hence, the 15-20 year old female in this 1840 household was probably not a daughter. Samuel had brothers David North and Michael North, both in Ohio by 1831. He had sisters Mary Zimmerly (w/o Jacob Zimmerly), Susan Burgess (w/o Jeremiah Burgess), and Nancy Cheney (w/o Elemuel Cheney), all living in Ohio in 1831. Another sister, Elizabeth Stallings (w/o Bayard Stallings), probably migrated to Ohio circa 1840. Would appreciate any information on this North family of Holmes County, especially any names or locations for the children. Many thanks for any help you can give. Donnie Nazelrod
