    3. Hallo again, My apologies, I should have included in my original message that the German spelling of the surname is "KOEMPEL" (or KOMPEL with umlauted "O"), and quite likely changed to Kimble, Kimball, Kempel, Kembal, etc. upon settling in America. I am aware of 3 immigrants to America ca. 1835-1840, and have a clue of at least 1 or 2 that appear to have been imported as "Hessian Soldiers" during the American Revolution. Thanks again, Larry Flinner, Jr.

    2. Larry Flinner, Jr.
    3. Hallo all, I am trying to locate a family researcher for the surname KIMBLE (or any variant of this spelling). If the surname has been traced back far enough in the U.S. (perhaps 1840), I may be able to help make a connection to Germany. The family most likely is / was Catholic. Also, does anybody know of a family history book(let) available for the above surname? Any help is much appreciated. Thank you, Larry Flinner, Jr.

    1. Cemetery in Holmes County OH
    2. Brenda & Matthew Ozog
    3. I am going to Holmes County this summer and need help from anyone who can help me find this cemetery. According to a book about the family, "Frederick passed away on June 30, 1844 in Mechanic Township, Holmes County, OH at the age of 85 years, 7 months, and 13 days. He is buried in an old military cemetery in Coshocton County, OH near New Bedford. Unfortunately in the 1970's, Frederick's headstone was found broken off at the base and piled up in the corner of the cemetery with other broken off stones.....Frederick's wife, Anna Margaretha, followed him in death four years later in 1848. She is buried next to Frederick in the Old New Bedford Cemetery." (Sheneman 9) If you are able to help me find this cemetery I would greatly appreciate it. 1. Lamp
    2. I am looking for any info on the Surname LAMP. My Granfather (Harold Leroy Lamp) and his family moved to Millersburg, Holmes Co., OH when he was a young boy. This was sometime after 1926. They moved from West Virginia. His Parents were Harold Randolph and Laura Mae (Scott) Lamp. Harold Randolph Lamp died in 1970, in a car accident. Harold Leroy Lamp had two brothers named Delburn (? spelling) and Carrlios (? spelling). My family never met his brothers. My Grandfather had to leave OH at somepoint for either hurting someone seriously or killing them in either a fight or a car accident. He went to Michigan and met my Grandmother then moved here to Kokomo, IN. I do know he was in the Army during WWII. For some reason his past, pior to meeting my Grandmother is a mystery. My family is trying to find our long lost relatives still believed to be in Holmes Co., OH area. We are not looking for money, just looking for the family we never got to meet, any info, or stories of our family. Any information would greatly help us out on our research, or if anyone can help point us in the right direction. Thank You, Harold W. Lamp

The MVGI is a site I put on-line a couple of years ago. It covers over half-a- million genealogy related record pointers from south-west Ohio Counties. It is the area that drains into The Great Miami River. These Ohio counties are Butler, Champain, Clark, Darke, Green, Hamilton, Miami, Montgomery, Preble, Shelby, Warren. Many settlers came into this by floting area down the Ohio River, then up the Great Miami River. Some were here before 1800. After a generation or two, many families moved "on west". 3. I hope to eventually have my death records on cds dedicated to counties in OH that have my family ties. As of now only a few of these names are connected. But since I am able to get to the OHS and gather info I hope to pass on what I can to others. I know how difficult, time consuming and cost involved in gathering information can be. I hope that by each of us giving a little of what we can we can get rid of these barriers. This is my way of also paying back in kind to all those who have helped me in my quests into my past. ~pat jones~ Darke Co OH. Ida M.
