Hi Bob and Michelle! Thanks for your response to my request for information on Dr. Ellsworth E. Cary. I was taking a chance that Ellsworth's family might still be in Holmes area. Since the Cary family is not my family, I'll leave Ellsworth to Cheryl to follow-up in Holmes Co. Your response is greatly appreciated! Have a great Day! Joe Murnane Williamson, NY
Tina Could you please look up Caleb Tharp/Ellenor King? They were mother and son, who lived in Coshocton Co. They may have been in Tiverton Twp. Please be patient with me as I do not have an index to go along with the census. So if you know what county the family may be in, please let me know that too. I wondered if you've tried to contact the funeral home that he may have been at? Did he die in NY? I have a listing of funeral homes for all of the US. If you can give me the city, or even the county, that you think he might have died, then I can give you the phone numbers for all the funeral homes in that area. There usually aren't too many too call. Maybe four or five. They can be VERY helpful though. I've done this several times and would recommend it to anyone. Chances are, they probably still have the records because it wasn't that long ago. I usually call for the late 1800's! =) Let me know if I can be of any service. Good luck! Michelle :)
Whyle married into my Adams line. Maybe Virginia Cary wife of Richard in Millersburg could help. I know that Richard would not be able due to his health. Yes, that was one of his brothers. His other brothers were William F., Dr. Warner Pinkerton and Charles R. and one sister, Alice. Bob, do you have any more info on this family? I'm trying to find more on Ellsworth - Joe is helping me out from NY as Ellsworth was listed as residing in Ithaca in several obits. I didn't even think to post it here, pretty bad for the list owner!!! Handy Book says 1825. For earlier marriages check Coshocton, Tuscarawas or Wayne Barbara At 09:20 AM 11/6/01 -0500, you wrote: >Another subscriber to this list sent this: > > > > the deputy clerk in the Court of Common Pleas (Probate) in > > Millersburg, found my grandparents marriage license for me. > > Phone 330-674-5881. > > > >How far back in time does the Court of Common Pleas have marriage >records?
The problem there is that I don't believe they were here yet (from England) in 1850. I have some fellow May researchers who are trying to come up with an immigrant passenger list that might tie the family unit together, but so far they have found no record of the May family in Ohio or Indiana (DeKalb County). Another possible method of finding Elenor's parents might be to look at 1850 censuses. If she was living with her parents, it would tell their names AND her siblings. But, how to tell which MAY family would be the problem. You might have to check a lot of MAYs before you found her family; I don't know of any 1850 index that lists anyone other than head-of-household. If you decide to "go this route" seems like MAYs in Holmes Co might be a likely place to start! Is there anyone in Holmes County who is near the courthouse and could look up a marriage for me? The Ancestry.com website has my gggrandfather's marriage listed under the heading Ohio Marriages 1803-1900. Robert Schomp - Elenor May married 3 July 1852 Holmes County, Ohio. We are trying to verify what May family Elenor belonged to and wonder if the marriage record might tell that or if a newspaper for that date might mention the marriage. Any advice for me?
I am almost positive it is Richland.

Could someone please tell me what twp the town of Glenmont is in? Is it in Richland, Monroe or Knox? I looked at the twp map on the Holmes county page and couldn't tell which it may be. Thanks, Tina Hursh
Hi List, I'm looking for information on the family of Noah SCHROCK, b 26 Sep 1850 Holmes Co., OH who on 10 Sep 1870 m. Theresa GERBER b 6 Mar 1852 same place. They lived somewhere in Holmes Co. Does anyone have an index to the census that would tell me the page where I might look to find them? Also I am interested in information on the children's spouses. Any help would be appreciated.
