Bathasar Dingledine b1793 lived in Ragersville in the 1840, 1850 but later moved to Farmersville some time after 1850 census would like any help on the family during 1850's and 60's . One son George married Elizabeth Olinger in 1853 but I have no record of this family either. A kind lady gave me 64 photos with few names on them. They are probably from the late 1800s.Some are from Millersburg photographers, Mt. Eaton and Wooster in Wayne Co., Ada and Dunkirk in Hardin Co., and various other nearby places. The surnames involved may be Huston, Cullen, James, Freeman, Critchfield, Barnes, Richards, and Sterling. I have scanned these, and if anyone would like to take a look at these handsome folks, let me know and I will e-mail you the file. They are in jpeg format. Perhaps by sharing them I can eventually identify some of the people. Janet Smith Lubbock, TX
Hello! My gr-gr- grandmother was Sarah Jane Bell, 1829 PA-1864OH. She married John Huston. I do not know her parents or siblings. There is a tall monument at Oak Hill cemetery with family names on all 4 sides, but when I was there 3 years ago I had difficulty reading many of them. Some are Huston names, and some are Bell names. One is Catherine Bell, wife of G. M. Bell. Another is John Bell, and one is Mar?? Bell age 13. Are there any BELL researchers who might help with this family? Janet Smith Lubbock, TX
Hello Group! The Holmes Co. surnames that I am researching include HUSTON, HOLSER, LONGENECKER, BELL, WOLEVER, FINNEY, and CLOSE. Janet Smith Lubbock, TX
Last week I posted about George Leonhard Immel b. 1791Germany who immigrated with his family-wife Maria, two sons George Michael b. 1825 and Johan George b. 1831 Germany. They immigrated in 1836 to Holmes Co. Are there other Immel families in Holmes Co. this Immel family was related to? Why in particular did they immigrate to Holmes Co.? I would like to hear from others who have Immel in their geneology to see if there is a connection. My ancestor George Michael Immel was elected as Clerk 2 January 1858 for St. Pauls Church in Paint Township, and the church was to be known as United Evangelical St. Paul Church (Winesburg). Are there church records available for this church? In 1997 I went to the Holmes Co. library and copied some pages from "Winesburg Church Records." Would this have been the Evangelical St. Paul Church? Susannah Geigler married my 4grgrandfather Henry Willard 15 January 1811 in Tuscarawas Co. I have been able to find extensive info on Henry, but absolutely no information on the Geigler family. Henry Willard was in Tuscarawas Co. about 1803, moved to Stark Co., Summit Co., Portage(never really moved after going to Stark, the boundaries changed). I have not been able to find any Geigler people in any of these four counties and am wondering if there are Geigler people in Holmes Co. I would like to know Susannah's parents and sibling names. Also have not been able to find out where Susannah was born nor her date of death. Would like to know what German church records might have information on these questions. Carole, There are a number of Immels in the index of the "Winesburg, Ohio Birth Record 1833-1897." published by the Holmes County Genealogy Society. I do not find your George Leonhard though. These are from the records of Zion Church at Winesburg. Bob Strock Carole L Lubbers wrote: > New to this list and this is my first post.
