New to this list and searching for info on the following couple: Susan HORINE, who married Jacob BRUNEY. My ancestor Christian Horine, immigrated to America from Germany ca 1840; the family was in Paint Twp, Holmes Co, OH when the 1840 federal census was taken. During the next several years records show three HORINEs marrying in Holmes Co. These include: Susan HORINE married Jacob BRUNEY on 07 June 1842 in Holmes Co, OH. Christian HORINE, b: 09 July 1826, married Catharine Marker on 05 April 1849 in Holmes Co, OH; and Catherine HORINE, b: 22 January 1828, married Jesse John BUCKMASTER on 20 February 1845 in Holmes Co, OH. Correspondence has provided sufficient data to include Catherine Horine as a younger sister to Christian, but, to date, we've not found any mention of Susan and Jacob BRUNEY. There were BRUNEYs living nearby in Zoar, Tuscarawas Co, OH, but no match has been made to any of those folks. Other HORINE researchers don't have HORINEs living in the Holmes Co area during this time so we feel Susan must have been related, but we've not found anything to prove it. Hope someone reading this will connect to this family! Or perhaps provide a lead! Thanks. Cindy Kimes P.S. Other variations of the BRUNEY surname could be BRUNI, BRUNE, BRUNNI, BRUNNEY, BRUNIE, etc.

I find Frederick and Mathias on the census 1820-1840 in Coshocton or Holmes Co. OH. Both were on the tax list in Ohio as early as 1814. I believe all were originally from Centre Co. PA. Derek, I have an 1878 Directory of Tuscarawas Co. It shows in Sugar Creek Twp., Post Office Shanesville a Cornelius Neff, Gabriel G. Neff, John G. Neff. In Auburn Twp. post office Ragersville is a Peter & David Neff. My people also lived in Ragersville - Daniel & Phoebe Lembrecht. Neighbors, think of that. Have you tried interlibrary loan for your Neff book? You might also try the Tusc. Co. Gen. Society. They have a very good library. The oldest generation in Holmes County was Archibald Crawford who arrived in the 1830's from Saratoga NY and died in Holmes county in 1842. Regards, Jim Crawford [email protected]
