Hello Lister's, I am seeking information on Henry Hochstetler that died in 1846 in Holmes Co., OH. I would like to make contact with other descendants researching this family. Thanks in advance for any assistance and have a good evening. May e-mail me direct. Patsy Sutton
Has been awhile since I posted my info, so thought I would do so again. Looking for information on John GOOD b. abt. 1774 PA married to Elizabeth ????? b. abt 1786 PA. Believe this family along with their 10 children arrived in the Holmes (Killbuck Twp) in the late 20's. Their son Abraham GOOD, Sr. b. 1818 PA married Mary Ann Patterson b. 1823 PA; Married July 24, 1842 in Holmes Co. The last piece of information I can find on John Good was the 1843 Mechanic Twp. School census which lists William Good, child of John GOOD. John and Elizabeth do not appear on the 1850 Holmes Co., census that I have found, and so far have found no death info or cemetery list showing either of them, so I am guessing they moved on. Eight of their other children were married in Coshocton Co. Would appreciate hearing from anyone regarding this family. This is and has been my brick wall for quite sometime now. Cannot find anything which might give me a clue as to the parents o John Good, or his siblings. Judy in OK

I have heard >directly from Jeff Wallick because of a Wallick-Uhl connection. I am a Uhl >line descendant and have almost 8,000 in compiled for that line. Jeff has >asked for all I have on the surname Wallick and I have just told him that >I will point him to my source of all of them I know of. >Sorry but none have a Tusc connection that I know of. Presumably you're related to the Hannah Uhl who m. Michael Wallick 6/25/1835 in Holmes Co, OH. Michael was s/o John & Margaret Dilbert, John the s/o of Michael & Charlotte of Bedford Co, PA. My George Wallick apparently doesn't connect to this branch :^( Also, Michael & Charlotte Wallick had a son Michael whose daughter Margaret m. Benjamin Strock 5/10/1830 in Tusc. Co, OH - any connection? They had a son Zed who was in the Civil War per Footprints Vol. 11, p 18? One of their descendants was a Kay Roth who wrote me over two years ago - I'm finally getting around to replying to her when I noticed the Strock name in her ancestry... I assume it's okay to give her your name/address when I reply to her... Here's another possible connection to you - my George Wallick's son John m. a Susanna Welty/Witty 5/27/1828 in Tusc. Co, OH - any connection to your Weltys? >Hoffstatter. I'll reply to this separately off-list... Thanks, Ron

He just posted there also, thus my CC to that list and a couple of other Wallick researchers... I had dropped him a note last October wondering if he was related to my George Wallick of Tusc. Co. whose daughter Nancy m. my g4gf Isaac Aultman; she d. 4/25/1851 Holmes Co, OH. I never heard back from him, but I can't complain - I've got letters I've been sitting on for two years or more :^( >I have a Ludwig Willard who m. Catherine Wallick (Willock) 27 Nov 1817 >Tusc. co. Don't really have anything on them, but would like to know more. >Ludwig died 1826 and Catherine m. a James Black 1828. Do you have anything >on these two people? Carole in Georgia Catherine wasn't in the IGI under Wallick, but I didn't think to search under other spellings (I should know better by now :^)) Note that James Black and Catharine his wife show up in an 1835 and 1837 petition against George Wallick (Jr?) admin of my George Wallick; my Wallick cousin wondered if Catharine was George's daughter or widow, but if she was the one who married Ludwig, then she's probably George's daughter... I've been frustrated in my Wallick research in Tusc. Co. - there seem to have been several Wallick branches, and I'm not sure how or if they connect: my George who d. 1832 Michael who d. 1826, m. Karenhappuchgorsuch (?) Michael who d. 1825, m. Charlotte The last was the ancestor of Scott Alan Wallick who wrote up a nice Wallick history in 1983, on file in the Tusc. Gen. Soc. library. This same branch had Issac who m. Nancy Smiley, and they were written up in at least one of the Tusc. Co. histories. But again, I haven't been able to connect to them :^( Ron Bauerle

I thought I would share this with the list. Someone on the Miller list sent me this and someone on the Menno list told me about the Amish book. The Mastof Bookstore is assessable by internet through [email protected] here you can request a catalog. Books that I found of interest to my Holmes Co. connections are "Amish and Amish-Mennonite Genealogies," "Descendants of Barbara Hochstedler and Christian Stutzman," "Hochstetler, Udate Volume I," and "Anniversary History Of The Family Of John "Hannes" Miller, Sr." The prices are abt. $70 for the first abt. $40 for the second & third and abt.$10 for the last. I have two so far. Want to get the other two and want to get the third one for Holmes Co. Genealogy if I can. Hope this is of help to some of you. At LDS you can find the property records, the film number and order the film. I have done this many times. It's on microfiche. Go to locality file, Ohio, Holmes Co., then land & property records. You will also see what else you can get for Holmes Co.! The couple raised ten children who were Lucy, Albert, John, Elmer, Ollie, Harry, Andrew, Roy, Anna, and Sadie. I was wondering if they received the copy of "Anniversary History Of The Family Of John "Hannes" Miller, Sr." by J. Virgil Miller I sent them in the name of my father Robert Clair Hershberger & Family. I still have one more book I would like to donate to the Society of Holmes Co. as it is essential in Amish/Mennonite research and is getting close to be out of print. It is the "Amish/Amish & Mennonite Genealogies" by Hugh F. Gingerich & Rachel W. Kreider if the organization does not have a copy. This book has all my Amish/Mennonite lines in it. I have one copy for myself and will be ordering a second so each of my children will have one of their own. Please let me know if the Holmes Co. Genealogy Society does not have one. I am hoping the organization received the first book and is enjoying it. I plan on reading my copy on my trip to the ocean where I won't have a computer or other research materials with me. Friends, I've enjoyed our discussions, but after too many hours reading and answering email (due to no self-control), my house is a mess. I've made a pact with myself to keep away from my favorite pastime and am unsubscribing from my email lists so the temptation will be removed. :-( Thanks for all the information so many of you have shared. You have my email address; if there is something you need to ask of me, write. I'll answer! Cindy Kimes
