    1. [OHHIGHLA-L] AKER/ACHOR FAMILY
    2. Floyd + Shirley Sampson
    3. Donna, I, too, am interested in learning more about the Achor family in Ohio. My gggrandmother was Sarah ACHOR, b. March 20, 1824, d. November 30, 1886, probably in Clinton Co., OH. She m. JACOB JACKSON, January 1, 1845. I have not been able to determine who Sarah's parents were. Sarah and Jacob Jackson's dates and children's names were in a Jackson/Achor family Bible which my great uncle, Carl COLVIN had. Over the years in my searching I found the following notes about Achors in Ohio, in "The History of Ross & Highland Counties", by William Brothers, c 1880: p. 499..."John Achor and Jacob Achor, father and son, came from Pennsylvania, the former to Clinton Co., in 1812, the latter, to Union Township in 1813. The farm upon which Jacob settled is now owned by his widow, Rebecca Achor and his daughter, Nancy E. Mowry. Two daughters, Mary and Julia Achor, own another farm nearby on which their father spent his last years and died. Remaining members of the family are Jacob, Lemuel and Joseph Achor and Elizabeth Clevenger all living in Union" p. 501 of the same source: "Jacob Achor was organizer of Mount Olivet Christian Church in 1833...now stands on land once owned by Jacob Jackson...erected in 1859". Do not know if any of this helps, but there may be some clues here. Shirley Sampson <[email protected]>
