Hi Sharon, This looks like a partial answer to your question, although the date varies drastically from yours: According to the book "Marriage Records of Highland County, Ohio (1805-1880)" by David N. McBride and Jane N. McBride, copyright 1962, reprinted 1982, page 132: "KENT, James m. Lucinda Surber Feb. 26, 1873, by A.T. Cunningham" Then, on page vii: "CUNNINGHAM, A.T.: M.G. Christian Union Church and J.P., New Market Twp." According to the book: "History of Ross & Highland Counties, Ohio", published 1880, reprinted 1991: on page 492 (regarding New Market Township churches). Looks like the church is in the town of New Market, in Highland County: "The Christian Union Church was organized, in 1869, at New Market, where a church was built the following year. The members were: John Stewart, Mr. Graves, Adam Lemon, Abraham Strain, J. C. Stire, Sarah Wilkin, Mrs M. A. Stewart, Rachel Gibler, William Stanforth, and others. Daniel Hare, and Revs. Wolf and Milburn, were the first Preachers. A Sabbath-school i sustained during the summer." Norman Runyon [email protected] wrote: > Hi-- > > Sometime in Jan. I need to look for what church a pastor who signed a marriage license on Feb. 21, 1825 was connected with. The marriage was between James Alonzo Kent and Lucinda Surber, and I'm trying to locate more info on his parents, esp. his father, who was deceased by the time James was married. I have no idea what church they married in, but if I can find out, possibly there are more records to help me. Would anyone know where this info is and what the hours would be in January? > > Sharon in Springboro > > ==== OHHIGHLA Mailing List ==== > Visit "Highland County, A Place For Genealogy" - a part of the > US GenWeb/ Ohio GenWeb & ALHN Projects at: http://www.usgennet.org/~ohhighla/index.htm
