His father was John Adam(Adair)Long b 18 Feb 1824-married Elizabeth Willet b 14 Jan 1829. Johns father was William R. Long b 3 Aug 1799-married Matilda b 1802. Two of John and Elizabeths daughters married Butters. Matilda Leonna Long b 31 Mar 1854 on 15 Feb 1877 married Joseph A. Butters b 1854(Son of William Butters and Elizabeth Frump) (Elizabeth is sister to Suzanne Frump?). Mary Laverne Long b 31 Mar 1856 on 16 Sept 1875 married Zeri M. Butters b 1856(son of William butters and Elizabeth Frump). I have only been able to trace the Steel's back to Lemuel Steel b 1786 in Hartford, Conneticut. Married Sarah Dunifen. Both are buried in Good Hope Cemetery in Logan, Ohio. They had 7 children. Nathaniel Steel b 1830 in Logan County, Ohio is one of the sons. He married Mary Smith, they are both buried in Paulding, Ohio. They had 7 children also. Calvin Steel b 4 Jan 1861 in Logan, Ohio was one of their son's and he married 1st Mary Adeline Cooper and 2nd Mary Elizabeth Long b 18 June 1873 in Highland County, Ohio. This is where our Longs tie in. William Allen Long is her father. Don't know where they may have lived between Conneticut and Ohio. Or who Lemuels parents were or siblings.
