Rachel married Moses Smith (b. 1818, son of Moses and Catherine in your message). I haven't made the connection yet, if there is any, between the elder Moses and William Smith, but am thinking there is a possible connection with all the marriages between the families. Rachel who married the younger Moses Smith, is I am fairly certain, the daughter of Edom and Hannah Ratcliff. The localities they lived, ages and naming of children leads me to believe this. In the 1840 Highland Co. census, Edom had a daughter that would be the right age to be Rachel. Rachel named two of her children, Hannah and Edom Allen (which also leads me to believe that an Edom A. listed on pensioner rolls (in Howard Co. where Edom and Hannah are later) is Rachel's brother). Howard Co. is going to mail me what information they have on Edom Sr's family. Do you have a tree or more information on William Smith's family? I would be glad to send what I have on the Moses Smith line and the Rachel (Smith) Ratcliff line.
