Washburn Cemetery in Brushcreek Township was overgrown with trees and large scrubs ten years ago upon my last visit just before we moved from Ohio to New Mexico. MANY of my ancestors are buried there and I think about the fact I didn't do anything about it before leaving the state. If the county commissioners haven't cleaned it up yet, it will definitely need TLC like John Walters'. Yes! Highland County desperately needs a program such as this one. Where will each county find someone as dedicated as John Walters though? Pays for his own training and accepts nearly nothing for his loyalty. What we need is a benefactor to support a program such as this! I would definitely be willing to contribute annually but I'm not wealthy (unfortunately!) and can't do it alone. My husband said we should send a copy of this article to the Judge of the Probate Court. Does anyone agree? I plan to send a copy to Jean Wallis at the Highland County Genealogical Society.
