It was located in the side, and as soon as the afflection was discovered, Mrs. Emmitt was taken to Columbus, where she underwent the x-ray treatment and everything science could do was done, to stay the ravages of this terrible disease. For a time, it was believed that the treatment would be successful, and the physicians had not yet abandoned all hopes, but the patient, who had been greatly reduced by her affixation gave up the struggle for life and begged to be brought home where she could die in peace, surrounded by her family. The deceased maiden name was Cynthia Bateman. She was the daughter of the late C. L. Bateman, a former well known citizen of Waverly, and was born and raised here. She was a noble good hearted good woman, a faithful wife and loving mother. Her sad death was deeply deplored by the entire community and the sympathies go out to the bereaved husband and children, Paul & Charles. The funeral ceremonies were held this afternoon at her late residence, three miles west of town, and the remains were laid to rest in the cemetery at this place [Evergreen]. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- Information submitted by: John Emmitt
