In September 1734 John Wolfensberger, wife Margreda and several young children came to America in the ship "Thistle of Scotland." John obtained a land grant in Pennsylvania in 1734 and was later naturalized under the name of John Wolfes Sperger 11 April 1777 in Philadelphia. His son John migrated to Virginia where he married Hannah Sumner His son John went to Surry County North Carolina. He married Christina Frey and 3 of their sons went to Highland County, Ohio. When John's wife died he went to Ohio where his sons lived. By now the name had been shortened to Sparger for the family who stayed in North Carolina and it was Spargur for the ones in Ohio, They all had W for a middle name. Joseph married Rachel Sumner and had 10 children. His daughter Christina was my great grandmother. He then married Abigail Moore and had ! 8 more children. Henry married Susanna Roberts and they had 10 children. Phillip married Rachel sumner (a cousin of the other Rachel Sumner) and they had 10 children.
