Oops, What I posted won't be too useful without this: The URL is http://www.ancestry.com/ancestry/search/3708.htm The description of the database is: : The most infamous Confederate prison camp of the Civil War, Andersonville housed an estimated 45,000 Union soldiers during the war. This database is a collection of records compiled by the National Park Service of camp inmates between 1863 and 1865. Researchers will find rank, unit, death, and capture information in addition to the inmate's name and state of residence. In some cases, the National Park Service has more information for some soldiers. Inquiries regarding these men can be directed to: National Park Service, Andersonville National Historic Site, Rt. 1, Box 800, Andersonville, GA, 31711. With over 37,000 records, this collection can be an enormous help to researchers of Union ancestors who were captured by the Confederate States of America in the later years of the war. I'm trying to learn about John Carpenter especially how he died and who his parents were. I do know that he married Francis (Fanny) Ellen Garver and they had four children, Elizabeth Jane, Catherine, Daniel, and John. In McBride and McBride's book, Wills, Administrations, Guardship and Adoptions of Highland Co., Ohio, "Ephraim Adams was appointed guardian 10 March 1840 of Jane 11 years, Catherine 9, Daniel 6 and John 5 years. Children of John Carpenter, dec." Ephraim was the second husband of Francis Garver. They moved to Iowa in 1842 with the four Carpenter children plus two of their own. They had additional children there and remained in Iowa until their deaths. Any suggestions from Highland Co. researchers on obtaining a copy of the original document or other research sources where I might learn more about John. Thanks.
James E. Creed was born 24 Aug 1876 in Washington twp, Highland Co. the son of Leonidus Clayton Creed and Mariah Catherine Anderson. James Creed married Della M. Holliday in 1897 and they had two children Minnie and Mary K. Creed. Would like death dates for James and Della Creed.
Hi. Am new to the list. Searching for information on Hugh and Charlotte McClelland. Members of the Rocky Springs church, (presbyterian), 1807. 1808, their daughter Betsey was baptized. Searching for burial information. Hugh and Charlotte had sons Hugh, daugheters Experience, Elizabeth, Harriet, Ann and Nancy. Hugh died 1843, Charlotte 1852 (?). They owned land on both sides of Paint Creek, some in Ross and some in Highland County. Any info would be helpful. Harriet married Robert Bryant; Elizabeth married Christopher Cannaday, Hugh married Susan Milar, Experience married William Myler, and Nancy was an "idiot". Will share what I have. Rose

Also I have some pages from Marriage Records of Highland Co, Oh 1805-1880 and Cemetery Inscriptions of Highland County, Oh by the MCBrides for other family surnames, can I buy the books and how much are they? Hi Patty, Actually there is only one listing, in that book, but Pleasant is mentioned twice in the same record. It is in the middle of page 57 and reads as follows: "BROWN, Doctor. Date: Dec. 14, 1854. Wife: Sarah. Children: Pleasant W., Henry W., Cary W., Mary J. Himes, Narcissus L., Eliza, Martha A., Amos, Harriet. Grandson: Layfayett B. Amos. Executor: William P. Hughey. Witnesses: Robert C. Park, Joseph L. White. Proven Feb. 17, 1855. Wm. P. Hughey declined the executorship and the court appointed Pleasant Brown, eldest son of the deceased, Administrator W.W.A. Sureties: Sarah Brown, Joseph Burgess. Appraisers: John Burgess, Aaron Lloyd, William S. Grove. The widow elected to take under the will." Just in case you don't already have these records from "Marriage Records of Highland County, Ohio (1805-1880)" by David N. & Jane N. McBride, 1962: Page 28: BROWN, Doctor m. Sarah BIGLEY Sept. 13, 1819 Page 29: BROWN, Pleasant m. Emily JOHNSON Sept. 12, 1825 by Andrew S. McClain, M.G. (Note: Andrew S. McClain was a minister in the M.E. Church.) Page 29: BROWN, Pleasant m. Sarah DOHERTY July 30, 1852 by M.G. Baker (Note: Milton G. Baker was a minister in the M.E. Church.) I'm guessing that Doctor Brown named his son Pleasant after his brother by the same name. Here is another record about Doctor Brown from the Wills Book, Page 241: "Aug. 10, 1865. Isaac Lupton appointed Guardian of Harry W. Brown aged 31 years, a lunatic and Harriet Brown aged 35 years, a lunatic, representatives of Doctor Brown, dec'd. Sureties: Peter Grim, Jesse Crawford." I'm not sure what the term "lunatic" implied in those days. Norman Runyon Patty & Charlie Brown wrote: > Hello everyone, > > Yesterday I put out a post looking for information on Pleasant W. Hello everyone, Yesterday I put out a post looking for information on Pleasant W. BROWN and Sarah DAUGHERTY in Highland County possibly married around 1850. A subscriber to this list has the index for the book "Wills, Administrations, Guardianships and Adoptions" and said there are two listings for Pleasant Brown. Is there anyone out there who might have this book and be willing to do a lookup for me. The information for both listings is in Record #57. Thanks in advance. Patty Brown Colorado

Hello everyone, I am new to your list. I just discovered that I have a Pleasant BROWN married to a Sarah DAUGHERTY living in Fairfield Township in Highland County in 1860 with three children: Luis S., Josephine and Cyrus D. By 1870 they had left Highland County and were living in Paulding County. I am interested in finding their marriage record (in the 1850's I would guess) and the names of their parents. Any help or suggestions are very much appreciated. Thanks in advance. Patty Brown Colorado

Hello all! I just recently obtained an album in which 17 images are permanently mounted. Fourteen are clearly identified as members of the 24th Ohio Volunteer Infantry Regiment. I suspect that the other three are members of the regiment also. I am constructing the history of this unit. Can anyone claim family members from among this group of images? If you would like to take a look at the images, use this web address: http://www.geocities.com/CapitolHill/Senate/1861/albumtin.html If you have any comments, please contact me personally at the above address or at: OVI24th@juno.com John C.
