    3. I learned from researching back to Germany that the last name is sometimes 2 names and they are of the last name of the man and wife who married each other. So this is how we found out the part of the last name was the surname for the wife and thus found

I am wondering if they are related to your Easter's from Highland County. It is Elias Barnes & Mary Woolf's daughter Mary (born abt. 1802) married a Emanuel Easter in January 13, 1825 in Highland County, Ohio. They had seven children and lived most of their lives in the Highland County Area, dieing in that area and buried there. Their children are Reece W., Elias B., John C., James C., Solomon E., Sarah, and Mary. They are born between the years 1828 to 1853 mostly in the Highland County Area. Let me know if we have a connection...I always find this interesting. Paula

In September 1734 John Wolfensberger, wife Margreda and several young children came to America in the ship "Thistle of Scotland." John obtained a land grant in Pennsylvania in 1734 and was later naturalized under the name of John Wolfes Sperger 11 April 1777 in Philadelphia. His son John migrated to Virginia where he married Hannah Sumner His son John went to Surry County North Carolina. He married Christina Frey and 3 of their sons went to Highland County, Ohio. When John's wife died he went to Ohio where his sons lived. By now the name had been shortened to Sparger for the family who stayed in North Carolina and it was Spargur for the ones in Ohio, They all had W for a middle name. Joseph married Rachel Sumner and had 10 children. His daughter Christina was my great grandmother. He then married Abigail Moore and had ! 8 more children. Henry married Susanna Roberts and they had 10 children. Phillip married Rachel sumner (a cousin of the other Rachel Sumner) and they had 10 children.

    2. Jean Wallis wrote a wonderful article about the Hibben family of Hillsboro on Oct. 5, 2001. The article followed a "ghost walk" evening of presentations held at the Hillsboro cemetery in Sept. The Southern Ohio Genealogical Society in Hillsboro and the Highland House Museum do a great job collecting and presenting information about past residents of Highland County. I am not sure if she is still doing that or not since I move from Highland County about three years ago. Also, many of the local (town) communities still do write-ups about their areas that is a tradition that has gone back about 100 years in the county. They usually tell of who came to visit who and anniversaries & birthdays being celebrated in their areas. Two other siblings married Caplingers also. Source does not show who Elizabeth and Catherine's parents. Benjamin and Ester Zetty both buried in Caplinger Cemetery are the parents of Peter and Isaac.
