Peter Moore lived in Highland Co. OH around 1800 and apparently was in his middle years at that time. Records from Highland Co indicate that he was either from Germany or of German descent. (If this is a fact, I suspect the last name may have been Muhr/Mohr or similar Germanic spelling. I believe his granddaughter was Mary Moore who married a Joshua MERCER. Can someone help me validate this information.
They came from Maryland and North Carolina too: ELLIS and HUSSEY, for example. Margaret
Looking for information on the family of William PERRIN in Highland Co., OH. Wm. was born 10 Apr. 1787 and died 11 Sept. 1857, places unknown. He married 1st Eliabeth VANDERMAN in Ross Co., OH on 18 Feb. 1809. They had seven children: Jennie (James?, Jessie?), Elias, Henry, Conrad, Mary Anne, Nancy, & Elizabeth. On 8 Oct. 1828, he married Sarah BENNETT, place of mar. unknown. They also had seven children: Mary, William, Sarah Ellen, Ann Barbara, Rachel Ellen, Noble Mathias, & Elisha Recer. Can anyone help with the places of William's birth, death, & place of marriage to Sarah? I'd appreciate any clues anyone can give me on this family. Thanks. Lauren
Jodi, I read your message to Hazel. The reason they have Virginia and Pa. records there is that several Ohio Highland people came from those places to Ohio. The Rubles , Coffmans, ect. Now i have been researching here and in Pittsfield IL. where I am now and several families from Highland came here in the 1800's. I ran across a receipt to Thomas Rogers from the estate of Alexander Moore to pay for 2 scholars at 2.00 each. Is Alexander one of your ancestors. If so I will snail mail a copy to you. Pat

Many days there are ladies there from the genealogy society to help you. Plan on spending 4-6 hours there. They also (for some unknown reason) have a large selection of PA and VA records. They also have the records for the Welcome Society there as well. There are some different records at the city library which do not duplicate the collection at Southern State University. Ask the librarian there for assistance to the master genealogy catalog sheet. ***********Researching the following Highland Co surnames in early 1800's: McVay Mercer Moor(e)

I'm looking for the origin and parents of James Daniel, b. abt 1788, m. in Highland Co. 21 Dec 1810, Hannah Reed, daughter of James Reed and Jane (?). James was a lawyer and justice of the peace in Highland Co. and received a license to operate a tavern. He had two children that I know of: James Monroe Daniel and Eleanor who married John Polemus Ellis. Wouldn't mind knowing more about Hannah Reed, either! Margaret Ellis-Miller Also in Highland Co: CONARD, ELLIS, HUSSEY
This is my first time sending on this so please let me know if I'm doing this right. I'm looking for any information on my great grandfather, great grandmother and their families. Since we lived in Highland County, I'm assuming they did and died there. His name was William Issac Hottinger and he married Ida Mae Gall. My grandfather, Sanford Journey, was born in 1898 so I'm guessing that they were born in the 1860's to 1870's. Thanks, Darlene Reid-Rericha
Can anyone give me the address and /or phone number to get copies of birth/death certificates? And also does anyone know what they cost. I just need a copy, they do not have to be certified. I know Fayette county was only $2 each. Is Highland the same? Thanks Jodie
Norman Would you please post the particulars about Eliza COLVIN. I missed the first message about her. She may be one of two Elizabeth COLVINs that I have very little information about. I need to know her parents names. Also, if you have birth and death dates for her and any siblings, that information would be very helpful. Thanks Michael Norman L. Michael - Interesting question. I am not searching Colvin. I am researching Hibben, Entriken, Galloway, Smith, Dill, West, Milhous, Cummings. If there is a connection to Colvin, I really would like to hear about it. The Thomas Hibben family lived in Uniontown and the children moved to Hillsboro, Wilmington and Jamestown, Ohio. Thanks for asking. George.
Oops, sorry! Wrong county! Norman L. Runyon
