    1. MILEY/STULTZ
    2. J.Shiver
    3. Hi again, Still looking for my MILEY's from Highland and now I have learned Fayette Counties. My grandfather Orville MILEY was the son of Amma MILEY and it looks like Allie STULTZ. The Allie I cannot be 100% on for this death certificate is handwritten. it says he was born in Washington Court House (Fayette Co) and she was born in Sinking Spring??? Cannot make all that out either. I know that they lived in Highland County most of their lives but also I found Orville in the 1920 census with his wife Ora ? and son Charles in Clinton County. I dont know Ora's maiden name but after they were divorced she married a Clarence Matthews. She died in 1989. Orville died in 1943. My dad Harley Homer MILEY was born in 1931 and died in 1986. All of these deaths were in Highland Co. ANY help on this name and also STULTZ will be great.. Thanks Jodie -- Surnames: GEOGHAGAN, GREEN, HARGRAVE, INLOW, MILEY, MOORE, ODER, RIGGS, SHIVER, STULTZ,WASHBURN

    1. SIMPSON/ SIMBO
    2. Is anyone researching the names SIMPSON or SIMBO? I found the marriage record of John Simpson and Elizabeth Simbo in the Highland Co. marriage records. They were married Feb. 2, 1850. John disappeared on Feb. 4, 1863. They had the following children: Joseph Harlem born 1851, Peter Oscar born May 14,1853, Sarah Edith born 1855, Jacob Thomas born 1857, Elizabeth Kate born 1861, and Allie Francis born Feb. 8, 1863( four days after John disappeared.) Elizabeth then married Milton Lucas in 1872 in Highland Co.. If anyone has information on this family please contact me. Can anyone tell me if there were newspapers for Highland Co. in 1863? I was wondering if there was a write up about John's disappearance. Thanks in advance. Janet [email protected]

    3. I am reseraching members of a Huffman family or families that resided near Dunkards Ridge in the 1810-1850 time period. I am told that a number of Huffmans are buried at the Dunkards Ridge Cemetery but that the headstones are no longer present. Does anyone know if there is a list of who is interned in the Dunkards Ridge Cemetery and how I might be able to get access to it? 1. SIMPSON
    2. Hello, I need information on the Simpson family. Here is what I have: >From the Marriage Records of Highland County, Ohio - 1805-1880: John Simpson married Elizabeth Simbro, Feb. 2, 1850 by L. D. Harlan. John disapeared on Feb. 4, 1863 leaving Elazabeth with several small children, Joseph Harlem, born in 1851, Peter Oscar born May 14 1853, Sarah Edith born in 1855, Jacob Thomas born October June 2, 1857, ElIzabeth Kate born 1861. She gave birth to another child, Allie Francis, on Feb 8, 1863 four days after John disapeared. The same records show that Elizabeth married a Milton H. Lucas on Nov. 1, 1872. They had one child together & finished their lives out in Red Lodge Montana. My questions are: 1: Where did they come from originally. John & ElIzabeth 2: Who were their parents & where did they come from. Any help that you can give will be much appreciated. Janet

    3. Hi! I am a descendant of "Gov" James Johnson Sr of Leesburg, Highland County, Ohio. I have a few questions I would like to throw out there to clear things up. First - I have always thought that most of his children were from his marriage to Mildred Moorman but came across this that said Penelope Anthony was the mother - any comments???? Information from: History of Ross & Highland Counties, Ohio, with illustrations and biographical sketches. / Williams Bros. publishers; W.W. Williams, Printer, Cleveland, O., 1880. (Reprint: Evansville, IN:Unigraphic, Inc., 1978) p. 402, Fairfield Twp., Highland Co.: "'Governor' James Johnson came in 1812, from Botetourt (now Bedford) county, Virginia., and bought two to three hundred acres around the site of Leesburgh. By his second wife, Penelope Ashley, he reared a large family, - John, Elizabeth, Sarah, Joseph, James, Jesse, Mary, Judith, Penelope (Burgess), Anthony, Agnes, and Rachel (Lupton). Jesse Johnson, who married Mary Burgess, was the father of Elias Johnson, of Leesburgh, Michal (Milner), Edna (Cox), and Mary (Grice), all of Fairfield township. 2. John C. Rutherford
    3. Wanted: A reply from all descendants of veterans from the 24th Ohio Volunteer Infantry Regiment, 1861-1864. I am constructing a history and genealogy of the 24th Ohio Infantry Regiment. My idealized focus is ambitious, recording each veteran's antebellum and post-war experiences, as well as war service information. I need help tracking down the descendants of the 950 veterans. To aid you in determining whether you have a veteran in the 24th Ohio Regiment, below is a list of counties (and cities) where the companies were organized: (A) Huron (Norwalk) (B) Muskingum (Zanesville) (C) Erie (Sandusky) & Columbiana (New Lisbon) (D) Adams (West Union) (E) Montgomery (Dayton) (F) Trumbull (Warren) (G) Huron (Monroeville) (H) Cuyahoga (Cleveland) (I) Highland (Hillsboro) (K) Coshocton (Coshocton) To view the roster of volunteers from each county, use the following web URL: http://www.geocities.com/CapitolHill/Senate/1861 Please reply with a brief note concerning what you may know or have about each veteran. All persons who contact me will be noted in the upcoming book as sources of information for each veteran. Also, I will share what I know about the 24th Regiment. If you have any questions, please contact me, John Rutherford, at the following email address: [email protected] I offer my sincere thanks for your help. John C. Rutherford
