    3. Still searching for info on Neil Reeves b: 1895 to Wm. and Julia (Naylor) Reeves in Highland Co. Trying to find out who raised him after mother died in 1895. Mother, Julia (Naylor) Reeves is buried at Hart Cemetery, Highland Co. Wm. remarried in 1898 to Leah Frances Little (my grandparents) and had 5 children. My father, Ronald, s.o. Wm. and Leah, never knew that Neil was his half-brother. Always spoke of him as his "cousin". Neil lived and died in Montgomery Co., OH. Neil died in 1963 and my father died in 1965 without ever knowing that Neil was his half-brother. Maybe a census of Highland Co. about 1900 would help. Marilyn Reeves Doles [email protected]

    1. Re: [OHHIGHLA-L] CLUTTER FAMILY
    2. Norman L. Runyon
    3. Hi Carey, I don't have any information on the ancestry of William CLUTTER but my RUNYON files show that William was born 6 Apr 1788, married 29 Nov 1816, in Maysville, KY to Charity Drake RUNYON and died 17 Jul 1878 in White Oak Township, Highland County, OH. Charity Drake RUNYON was born 24 Feb 1801 in NJ and died 24 Mar 1864 in Highland County, OH. Charity was the daughter of Vincent RUNYON & Mary DRAKE. Vincent RUNYON was born 23 Aug 1773 in Hopewell, NJ, married ca. 1797 and died Mar 1827 in Hillsboro, OH. He lived in the Maysville, KY area before coming to Highland County. There are quite a few Highland County records concerning him. His wife, Mary DRAKE, was born ca. 1776 to Ralph DRAKE & Rebecca STOUT. Vincent's parents were John RUNYON & Rachel HYDE. John RUNYON was born ca. 1749 in Hopewell, NJ, married ca. 1769 and died 27 Jul 1813 in Amwell Township, Hunterdon County, NJ. Rachel HYDE was born ca. 1753 in Hopewell, NJ, the daughter of James HYDE. Rachel died ca. 1787 in NJ. John appears to have been the son of Cornelius RUNYON. Cornelius RUNYON was born ca. 1722, probably in Hunterdon County, NJ, to Vincent RUNYON & Alice CURTIS. Vincent RUNYON was born ca. 1701 in Piscataway, NJ and died ca. 1771 in Hunterdon, NJ. Alice CURTIS was the daughter of Nehemiah CURTIS. Vincent's parents were Thomas RUNYON and Martha Ann DUNN. Thomas RUNYON was born ca. 1673 in Elizabeth, NJ, married ca. 1698 in Piscataway, NJ and died 16 Apr 1773 in Hopewell, NJ. Martha Ann DUNN was born 13 Jul 1681 in NJ to Hugh DUNN, Sr. & Elizabeth DRAKE. (You can find both DUNN & DRAKE ancestries in NJ records.) Martha died ca. 1753 in Hopewell, NJ. Thomas' parents were Vincent RONGNION and Anne Martha BOUTCHER. Vincent RONGNION was born 7 Mar 1645 in Poitiers, France. He was a Huguenot (Baptist) carpenter who came to Elizabeth, NJ sometime between 1665 & 1668 to help build the town of Elizabeth. He was married 17 Jul 1668 in Elizabeth, NJ and died 5 Dec 1713 in Piscataway, NJ. His farm was on the Raritan River just adjacent to the modern Rutgers University. His wife was born ca. 1650 to John BOUTCHER in Hartford, England. Vincent invented the name RUNYON sometime after his marriage. Subsequent generations have, sometimes, modified the spelling. E.g. RUNYAN, RUNION, RUNNION, etc. Although the above looks fairly complete, I don't really have proof of the Cornelius generation and would not assume that it is correct at this time. It requires some more research. If you are able to come up with anything, I would appreciate knowing about it as I am still trying to trace may ancestry back to Vincent, but I think that my line may be closely related to yours. You might want to join the RUNYON discussion group at [email protected] We have over 160 members and it is an extremely active group. New people are joining all the time and you never know when someone will show up who can help you - and EVERYONE seems very eager to help & share. Happy Hunting! 3. Carey, I am working on the Bell family in Brown/Highland Co., Ohio. My husband's ancestor was James A. Bell who married Alice Webb in 1849 in Highland Co., Ohio. James A. Bell's sister Harriett B. Bell married Henry Clutter in 1843. To further complicate matters, Alice (Webb) Bell's brother, James Webb married Marinda Clutter in 1848 in Highland Co., Ohio. I suppose you have all this information and don't really need any of it. My husband's cousin who lives in Portsmouth, Ohio received/corresponded with Midge Clutter 18, November 1996. There is no return address on the copy of the letter that I have. Do you have a copy of her Clutter account in the History of Brown Co., Ohio (latest book) ? If not I will be glad to send a copy to you. I am still trying to determine the parentage of Alice and James Webb. Reuben Webb age 86yr. was living with Marinda (Clutter) and James Webb in the 1850 Highland Co., Ohio Census. Next door to Marinda and James was James Bell and Alice Webb. Do you have anything in your records on thr Webbs? Would be interested in hearing from you and will send anything that I have that you might need. Carleene Roe Dayton, Ohio [email protected]

    3. Hi again, Still looking for my MILEY's from Highland and now I have learned Fayette Counties. My grandfather Orville MILEY was the son of Amma MILEY and it looks like Allie STULTZ. The Allie I cannot be 100% on for this death certificate is handwritten. it says he was born in Washington Court House (Fayette Co) and she was born in Sinking Spring??? Cannot make all that out either. I know that they lived in Highland County most of their lives but also I found Orville in the 1920 census with his wife Ora ? and son Charles in Clinton County. I dont know Ora's maiden name but after they were divorced she married a Clarence Matthews. She died in 1989. Orville died in 1943. My dad Harley Homer MILEY was born in 1931 and died in 1986. All of these deaths were in Highland Co. ANY help on this name and also STULTZ will be great.. 1. [OHHIGHLA-L] Anthony Sonner/Sonner Chapel
    2. Robert Neuharth
    3. I am looking for any information about Sonner Chapel in Taylorsville in Highland Co. and its founder Anthony Sonner. He is reputed to have arrived ca 1814. It is my understanding that the chapel is still standing, tho perhaps not in use? I am hoping to find some kind of chapel history? or something that indicates WHEN Anthony Sonner arrived in Highland County. He was also said to have had a Sawmill and Gristmill. Does anyone have birth, marriage, death information signed by ANTHONY SONNER 4 Sep 1760-2 Sep 1843 in his capacity as pastor? Any help you can give me is very much appreciated. I include a link to a Sonner history page that may be of interest to researchers with ties to Shenandoah Co, Virginia. Jane Neuharth http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/Hills/6230/

    1. [OHHIGHLA-L] Peale in Highland County
    2. Bailie, Amy
    3. I am searching for the descendants of my 3rd Great-Aunts and Uncles in Highland County, Ohio. They are: Albert Peale - born about 1848 William Peale - born about 1851 Lydia Peale - born about 1856 Ann Peale - born about 1859 Their parents were James Alex Peale and Emily Morris. I haven't been able to find any information about Peale's in Ohio. Maybe the 1860 and older Ohio censuses show their children, I'm not sure. Any information on how to research them would be greatly appreciated! Thanks, Amy
