    3. I am seeking information on the family of John McCoy and Eliza Walker of Athens Township, Harrison County, Ohio. John was born 23 September 1816, the eldest son of Thomas McCoy and Hannah Major. Eliza was born in Athens Township on 30 March 1819. I do not know the names of her parents. John and Eliza were married in Harrison County on 28 May 1839. They had twelve children, named below. Eliza died 22 July 1890. John died 3 December 1890. They are buried at the Dickerson M.E. Church near Cadiz, Harrison County, Ohio. Children of John McCoy and Eliza Walker: 1) Margaret Jane McCoy: b. 1840, Athens Township. d. 1849. Buried at New Athens Methodist Church. 2) Amanda Elizabeth McCoy: b. 8 July 1842, Athens Township. Married 25 25 February 1864 to John Crumley Dickerson (25 September 1843 - 30 June 1921). Amanda died 16 August 1912. Buried at Dickerson Church. Six children: George Albert Custer (22 June 1864 - 13 March 1929); Leona May (28 August 1867 - 12 December 1938); Hiram Willis (4 November 1869 - 24 October 1946); Alvin Vincent (2 November 1873 - 2 September 1949); Mary Laurinda (4 June 1876 - 11 April 1942) and Carrie Belle (14 October 1882 - 9 March 1959). 3) Thomas McCoy: Probably b.c. 1845. Date of death not known, but probably before 12 August 1890 as he is not named in his father's will. 4) Mary McCoy: b. 1847, Athens Township. Married 8 October 1867 to Davis Garvin (c. 1841 - 22 March 1926). Mary died 3 January 1903. Buried at Dickerson Church. Six children: Lorena (b. 26 July 1868); John M. (b. 11 April 1873); Archer Hayes (3 December 1876 - 17 August 1935); Olive B. (6 June 1879 - 26 January 1953); Eva (b. 7 October 1883) and Leslie R. (c. June 1886). 5) John Calvin McCoy: b. 1849, Athens Township. Never married. Died 3 January 1935. Buried at Dickerson Church. 6) Martin Jasper McCoy: b. 25 November 1850, Athens Township. Married on 24 May 1877 to Isabella DeYarmon (1853 - 21 December 1913). Martin died 7 September 1902. Buried at Cadiz Union Cemetery. Six children: Laura B. [Birdie] (June 1878 - 9 October 1930); Iva May ( 9 October 1881 - 15 February 1912); Lela (26 May 1884 - September 1957); Hartzell Raymond (26 December 1886 - 8 April 1932); Harold J. (18 September 1889 - 17 November 1956) and Helen DeYarmon (October 1894 - 1962). 7) Albert Mitchell McCoy: b. 25 June 1851, Athens Township. d. 2 April 1875. Buried at Dickerson Church. 8) William F. McCoy: b. 1854, Athens Township. Married 3 November 1892 to Alice Isabel McCoy (15 March 1875 - 28 May 1937). William died 24 March 1932. Buried at Longview Cemetery, New Athens. Five known children: Leda Madge (21 November 1893 - May 1976); Albert Dewey (4 October 1897 - c. June 1910); Alvin Anderson (1899 - c. May 1981); Frances (1906-1944) and Maxine L. (1910 - April 1975). 9) Laura Hannah McCoy: b. 1857, Athens Township. Married on 7 October 1880 to John S. Anderson (1855 - 16 October 1933). Laura died 15 October 1933. Buried at Longview Cemetery, New Athens. Five children: Mabel Elsie (1881 - October 1952); Alice C. (1884 - 1907); Willis Carman (19 January 1889 - February 1960); Sherman Vincent (25 November 1886 - 23 April 1953) and Mary Ruth (May 1896 - before 15 October 1933). 10) Vincent W. McCoy: b. 1859, Athens Township. Married Ida Worstell (b.c. 1873). Vincent died in 1899, probably in Morgan County, Ohio. Buried at Dickerson Church. Two children: Earnest V., born 6 August 1890 and a daughter whose name is unknown. 11) Olive McCoy: b. 1861, Athens Township. Married 26 May 1892 to John McManus. Olive died 25 March 1909. Buried at Dickerson Church. No known children. 12) Alvena Belle McCoy: b. 1863, Athens Township. Married 19 October 1892 to Idelburt Burdette (27 March 1867 - 20 April 1950). Alvena died 24 June 1926. Buried at Dickerson Church. No known children. I am descended from Amanda Elizabeth McCoy by way of Hiram Willis Dickerson. I would very much like to hear from other descendants of John and Eliza, or anyone who may be able to fill in information on the other lines. Larry Dickerson
