I am wondering whether someone can assist me in finding James Crumley on the census of 1860. My best guess is that he would be in either Short Creek or Cadiz Township. I am trying to find out whether he married a second time. I know that James married Margaret Nelson on 10 August 1837. Margaret died 23 February 1854 and is buried at Dickerson Church. James died 28 January 1864, yet his obituary says "he leaves a wife and several children." James is also buried at Dickerson Church, but there is no stone for a wife other than Margaret. Is there a wife listed in his household in 1860? I have found two possible marriage records: a James Crumley wed Mary A. Buchanan on 29 April 1854 (this seems a bit to soon after the death of Margaret, but is not impossible) and the second, and perhaps more likely, is the marriage of James Crumley and Rebecca Barnett on 9 December 1858. [It seems improbable, but might both marriages be the same James?] As to children who may have survived him, if there were more than one, some must have come from the second marriage. James and Margaret had six known children: Thomas, Amanda, Emaly, Hannah, William and Joseph A. Crumley. All but Thomas were dead by 1851 and are buried at Dickerson Church. I do not know what became of Thomas, but there is no sign of him at Dickerson cemetery. I would appreciate any assistance someone may be able to provide. Thank you, Larry Dickerson
