Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/1YB.2ACI/958 Message Board Post: ******************************* THE CADIZ REPUBLICAN ******************************* Pub Wed, April 5, 1865 Killed and Wounded in the 69th and 98th Ohio Regiments in the Late Battles in North Carolina _______________________ The Cincinniati papers of last Saturday furnished a list of killed and wounded of the 14th Corps. In this corps are four companies from Harrison County - two in the 98th Regiment and two in the 69th. Lieut. J. M. PEARCE, who was in command of a brigade, is reported wounded and Lieut. J. M. BRANNON of Co. C, 98th Regiment was killed. In the 69th Regiment, George HOWARD , James M. PHELPS and Thomas VANHORN were killed. In the 98th Regiment the killed are ; Corp. Thompson GRAY, son of Jonathan Gray of Green Township, Harrison County , Thomas SALMON , Adam PATTERSON , Isaac DUTTON , Eli ROMIG and Solomon LIGGETT. The wounded of the 98th are as follows : George BALLARD forehead Sergt. Casper MAILL, jaw Corp. Daniel LONGFELLOW, back dorsar N. HOLLIS , M. J. HILL, right thigh August STALY, left shoulder Sergt., William W. WILSON, right arm Sergt. James REA, left thigh Southgate CROGMILL, right leg David REED, region of stomach Corp. A. HASSE , Thomas McCOY, left arm Joseph YEAGER, right thigh Corp. George BOWERS, left thigh William O.CONNELL, left shoulder Sergt. Adam STURTZ, right leg James MARSHALL , neck Sergt. George JONES , neck Sergt. James WORSTLE, right side of face and neck Nathanial BARRETT, left knee In the 98th the following persons are reported as wounded : Ebenezer T. KNAPP, thigh Joseph P. LOES , shoulder Maholn NICHOLS , shoulder John T. MERCER , mouth Samuel CONDE , both arms Robert MITCHELL , thigh Sergt. Martin OVERHOLT , neck Isaac H.CHANDLER , hip ; John GOFF, scalp David L. LAPORT , eyes William LAYPORT , shoulder Henry T. ADAMS , chin William B.
