    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Maxwell, Edie Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/1YB.2ACI/796.1 Message Board Post: Robert Maxwell (1768-1847), my direct line, m. Mary Polly Edie (1778-1835). They had 15 known children. In Thomas R. Crawford's "Reminiscences of Ohio", 1837: In the fall of 1793 Robert Maxwell & five others (Indian Scouts and spies) went from Ft. Thomas (now Wheeling, W.Va.) "from the mouth of the Wheeling Creek up the dividing ridge and crossed over on the evening of the second day. After they left the river, they proceeded to the headwater of the Stillwater, venturing far into the interior for so small a force." "They were attacked by Indians and not all survived." This appears to be the earliest documented travel into present day Harrison Co. by whitemen. But, probably white trappers had been there earlier.
