Thank you all for helping me look for the marriage record of William and ELizabeth ca 1827-38. Even though we didn't find the marriage, it helped me come to a conclusion. Someone may benefit from my experience, so I'm posting the results. There were no records found in Guernsey, Harrison, Tuscarawas, Carroll, Belmont, & Jefferson Counties in Ohio. There were no records ound in Wood, Brooke, or Ohio counties in (W)VA. I did more research online and found that Elzabeth Trickle had families of Nathan Trickle and William Trickle living nearby in Nottingham Twp., Harrison County. It seems like she had family nearby, so why go somewhere else to marry? Just as I was deciding that the marriage was probably in Harrison County (They lived there & William has other marriages in Harrsion County in 1822 and 1840.), but was NOT SHOWING UP IN THE INDEX, I got the following email. "about your marriage record for Harrison Co. I wanted to relay an experience of mine and maybe yours might be similar. I knew that one of my gr grandfathers had been married several times I went to the courthouse to get records. They weren't listed in the index under either name so I went page by page by page and found them. Not just one but two for this same guy. This was 1820-35 time frame. I don't know what happened but they didn't seem to get indexed or added properly. I wish you luck! by the way those didn't show anything but the two names date and who married them." So next trip to Ohio, I'm going page by page through the marriage records. Thank you all so much. Sharon Laizure Hofer
