This is a long shot, but it works in some cases to identify out-of-wedlock parents. There was such a relationship in my extended family that was identified thus: The baby's grandma instigated a court action to get money from her (unmarried) daughter's father. That's how we know where the Mystery Boy came from. I had suspected an out-of-wedlock birth, but that's how it was confirmed. Occasionally a baptismal record, if you can locate it, will show the true parents, but more often will just show the mother if the parents are not married.
