    3. I had a similar experience with marriage records. They were not showing up on indexes. I got the microfilmed copy sent to my local FHC and found that the original index had detoriated so badly by the time it was filmed that large portions were missing. Also it took me quite a bit of searching to realize that not all the records were recorded the same way. As different Judges or clerks had been responsible for recording the marriages, they got entered different ways. And I found several instances where a space that normall held one record had five or six squashed all together to try and keep the chronological order correct (or so that one preacher could record all his recent marriages together). Very confusing. And I am sure that happend in other counties also.
