SAMPSON, Secretary. The object of the Convention was stated by reading the call of the Republican and Union Central Committee. On motion of Richard HATTON the Secretary was requested to call the townships and register the names of delegates as called, which resulted as follows : Cadiz : Robert McKEE , Richard HATTON , Lewis LEWTON Athens : Dr. J. B. McGREW , Robert P. HANNA , William McFARLAND Shortcreek : Samuel BOGGS , Andrew JAMISON , Thomas FURBY Green : J. M. CASSELL , Arthur CHANEY , Ephraim CLARK German : John SCOTT , Vincent FERGUSON , Newton CAMPBELL Rumley : Not represented North : William H. McGAVERN , William G. JOHNSTON , William WHITTAKER Stock : A. J. SAMPSON , J. B. CONAWAY , Dixon MAXWELL Archer : Joseph McCOLLOUGH , John LYLE , Mathew McCOY Moorefield : William R. WOOD , John LATHAM , David WALLACE Freeport : John S. WATT , James CARVER , William HOLLETT Nottingham : James ADAMS , William SPIKER , Joel JOHNSTON Washington : Alexander BARGAR , Nathan MILLER , Abraham PORTER Franklin : James HOST , James W.ILER , Dr. John PITTIS Monroe : John C. PLOWMAN , James STERLING , James A. HENDERSON On the motion of E. CLARK, the Convention proceeded to the nomination of officers. On the motion of Richard HATTON , Samuel KNOX, of Freeport, was, by acclamation, nominated for County Auditor. On the motion of Joel M. JOHNSTON, Walter CRAIG was declared, by acclamation, the nominee for Commissioner. On the motion of Andrew JAMISON , John LYLE was nominated, by acclamation, for Director of the County Infirmary. On the motion of E. CLARK , Dr. J. B. McCOLLOUGH, was, by acclaimation, made the nominee of the convention for Coroner. On the motion of Lewis LEWTON , the townships were called in order, for the purpose of selecting delegates to the Congressional Convention, which resulted in the selection of the following persons : Cadiz Township : Delegate - J. S. THOMAS Alternate - G. HAVERFIELD Athens Township : Delegate - R. HANNA Alternate : William McFARLAND ShortCreek : Delegate - Isaac LEWIS Alternate - A. HANNA Green : Delegate - J. BLACK Alternate - E. CLARK German : Delegate - J. CROSKEY Alternate - O. SLEMMONS Rumley : Delegate - Joseph SHARON Alternate - none North : Delegate - W. JOHNSTON Alternate - L. LEWTON Stock : Delegate - A. J. SAMPSON Alternate - J. HAVERFIELD Archer : Delegate - John LYLE Alternate - M. McCOY Moorefield : Delegate - John LATHAM Alternate - Benjamin WOOD Freeport : Delegate - B. HOLLIDAY Alternate - T. GREEN Washington : Delegate - A. BARGAR Alternate - S. HENDERSON On the motion of Lewis LEWTON, the Convention proceeded to the nomination of delegates to the State Convention, as follows : Delegates : Richard HATTON , Hon. John A. BINGHAM , Smith R. WATSON , John LATHAM Alternates : R. J. BENNETT , Ephraim CLARK , J. W. CASTELL , Thomas FURBY On the motion of Thomas FURBY, the following persons were selected as County Central Committee for one year : Lewis LEWTON , R. HATTON , O. SLEMMONS , Thomas GEORGE and Turner BROWN. The following persons were then selected as Township Committee men : Cadiz - K. W. KIINSEY Athens - William McMILLEN Short Creek - James ADAMS Green - J. W. CASSELL German - W. WININGS Rumley - Thomas CUNNINGHAM North - John B. CONOWAY Archer - John OSBURN Moorefield - Dr. J. WHERRY Freeport - John A. BATES Nottingham - Joel M. JOHNSON Washington - James J.BILLINGS Franklin - Dr. James PITTIS Monroe - J. R. DEAL Resolved : That we hereby most emphatically approve of the course of our present Representative in Congress, Hon. John A. BINGHAM, and say to him, " Well done, good and faithful servant." Resolved :That we hereby instruct the delegates from this county to the Congressional Convention, to cast their votes in said Convention for Hon. John A. BINGHAM for the candidate for member of Congress from this District, and that we use all honorable means to secure his nominiation. On motion of Lewis LEWTON it was resolved, that the members of this convention will use all honorble means to secure the election of the ticket this day nominated. The convention adjourns.
