    1. [OHHARRIS] Will Indexes
    2. I have resubscribed to the list, and noticed a discussion from last month about the accuracy of a will index. I just wanted to point out to fellow researchers something I discovered this last week about indexes in the court records when I ordered the microfilm for use in my FHC. I ordered microfilm copies of the wills index for Harrison County which covers all the volumes of wills; and also the first microfilm which contains the first few actual will books. Each volume had its own index. I found several discrepancies between the master index and the individual indexes for just my surnames. Such a high level of error for only two surnames leads me to believe there is a good chance of error in the indexes. I also consulted a deed grantor/grantee index (again a microfilm copy of the original held at the county.) and was surprised that I could only find the purchase of a property by two ancestors, but no indication that it had been sold or transfered later. Can anyone with experience with Harrison County land records offer any ideas why this might be the case? I went to the end of the index, so time frame doesn't appear to be the issue. One of the people died between 1830 and 1840, and the other probably sold his land around 1846. Thanks in advance. Joe Wright, Chicago
