I am searching for the marriage record...or any record...of John Barnett and his wife Gervy or Cervy Merryman. They were supposed to have been married in Harrison Co., OH, in about 1835-36. Their children were: Zachariah, b. abt 1836 in Ohio; Henry, b. March 16, 1838 in Harrison Co., OH; Mary & Nancy, twins, b. abt 1839 in Ohio; Rebecca A., b. abt 1847 in Ohio; and James, b. abt 1850 in Adams Co., IN. I am trying to link my g-g-g-grandfather, Henry Barnett, with this family as they appear in the 1850 census of Adams Co., IN, and this looks like a good match for his parents. Any help with this family will be greatly appreciated! -Kristin minervamn@yahoo.com __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Yahoo! It is thought that the last Worstell reunion held at the homestead was in 1941; "in the fall before the war started".

I am interested in the family of Bernard Weaver, who was censused in Franklin Village in 1850. His name also appears much earlier (1836) as a witness in the probate proceeding of my 3rd great-grandfather, Abraham Deem. Bernard had a son, Joseph, who may have been the first husband of a multi-great aunt. Family lore has it that Joseph Weaver owned or was in some way involved in a general store business. Would you have any information about the prioprietors of the stores in Franklin? Thanks again, Susan

Maxwell. I know almost nothing about him. I found a marriage date for a man by this name in Guernsey Co., OH. If this is the same man as my grgrgrandfather then he married a Jane Nelson and moved to Harrison Co because that is definitely where my grgrandmother, Sarah Ellen Maxwell was born. Do you have a Samuel Maxwell in your family line who was from Guernsey and may have moved to Harrison Co.? Or do you know of your ancestors brothers if there was a Samuel? Hi, I was hoping someone might be able to help me, I'm attempting to find Charles E. Nepper, he was born in Pennsylvania around 1874. I found who I think is him in the Ohio Death Records, 1958-1969, it shows the following: Charles E. Nepper Place of Death: Carroll County Date of Death: July 29, 1962 Volume 16954, Certificate 48789 Someone was kind enough in Carroll County to look there; they were unable to find it, so I think there was an error in inputting the data. I believe that he married Lela Olive Wyant. According to the Ohio Death Records, 1993-1998, she passed as a widow on January 23, 1993 (Volume 29294, Certificate 010306). The Social Security Death Index lists her residence as Cadiz, Harrison County, Ohio. In 1920 the couple was living in Jewett Village, I have not been able to locate them as of yet in the 1930 census records. I'm attempting to locate death records and would love to find obituaries. Unfortunately when ordering death certificates, city of death is required in order to fill out the form. Any help greatly appreciated, sincerely, Rob Boger
Hello, I know there is a history about the Nottingham Presbyterian church. It looked like a new book when I saw one recently. Are any of them still available for sale by the Church, the Genealogical Society, et al.? It looks that that's the only church in the Harrison County area that was attended by several of my family members [LAIZURES/MCCULLOUGHS and my "almost cousins", the TARBERTS.] Hiram LAIZURE and Sarah PARKS were married in 1853 by Rev. CRAWFORD, who was a minister there. I suspect the PARKS were members there, too. Hiram and Sarah have a baby, Mary. A. Laizure who was buried in NOTTINGHAM CEMETERY in 1856. Mary has a very sweet little gravestone with a lamb on the top of it. Gravestones in the cemetery there seem well preserved by the windbreaks, and because they are facing away from the NW. Thanks, Sharon Laizure Hofer

Will the Court House be open Friday? I did not know if they would close early because of Labor Day. Thanks ! Debbie
I am wondering whether anyone knows where the early Harrison County court records are, or if they survive at all. I know the courthouse has some index books to the old court journals, but when I asked about the original record books, I was told that nobody had seen them for years and the people at the courthouse did not know what had become of them. Were the court records ever microfilmed? I would like to find records of the court case referenced in the following newspaper clipping about the Shannon mill from a June 1939 issue of the Cadiz Republican, ".....This mill was constructed by James McAdam for the McDowell brothers, probably about 1830. It was built on the south fork of Brushy Fork creek, about a mile above the still older Dickerson mill, when that mill seemed doomed by court action as recorded in 1833 in Harrison County court records. The Dickerson mill was on the land of William Jones but the dam for water power was on the land of Wesley Gregg. The bitter legal battle would have ended this mill but an act by the State Legislature saved it by decreeing that any public convenience already erected could remain. So both mills operated and flourished......" I am interested in the Dickerson family. William Jones, who owned the land, was married to Rachel Dickerson and at least five of Rachel's brothers and four of her sisters were in Harrison County about that time. Does anyone know which Dickerson was running the mill? Sincerely, Larry Dickerson
