Hi, My grandfather Harry CLARK left Harrison County in about 1882, when his extended family moved to Burt Co. Nebraska. His ancestors included the surnames CLARK, KERR, MOORE, CARRICK, CORY, MOORE, SMITH/SMYTHE, JOHNSON and RAMSEY of Harrison County. Nearly all of his ancestors for 4 generations are buried in Cadiz Cemeteries, both the old and the new. His parents were Charles G. Clark and Ada Z. Kerr, listed in Hanna under the family of Roger Clark. I would be happy to exchange information with anyone researching these families. Thanks!

I have so little information on this Grandmother I have shied away from even posting. Possible she lived in Harrison County being born October 1846. Have no names of parents or siblings. She suddenly appeared as an adult woman on the 1870 census in Moorefield Harrison County Ohio. Census says her parents were also from Ohio. Been looking for this Gr. grandmother for years now, does anyone have her in their tree? Name of Nancy Ann McCullough and heard she also went by Anna. Sandy
My main surname for Harrison Co. is GOTSCHALL/GUTSHALL/GODCHALK, Nicholas Nicholas came from PA to the Harrison Co. area by 1802 when he purchased land at the Studenville Land Office and is listed as residing in Washington Co., PA. at the time of the purchase and died by 1808. Although I have found birth records for most of his children in Berks Co. PA a couple of marriage records for the children in WV. Nicholas married Margaret Unknown about 1770, probably Berks. Children: Samuel, John, Barbara, Daniel, George, Henry, Elizabeth, William, Jacob, Margaret "Polly," Catherine. From the census I have been able to determine that all of these children moved to Harrison Co. with Nicholas and Margaret. The name in PA was spelt mostly GOTSCHALL but in Harrison Co. it seems to have been spelt GUTSHALL. I just started working on the side lines to GOTSCHALL. This is a list of related surnames to the GOTSCHALL/GUTSHALL lines that I have found so far. I would like to find any others that are related to the GOTSCHALL lines. CHANEY/CHENEY AMES/AIMES/EAMES/EMES WALCOTT/WALCUTT SWIGERT/SWIGART [this surname married into the Ames lines] ALBERT FISHER NARRAGONG/NARAGONG/ NARREGON FISHER WINNING WEST COON HOSPELHORN/HASPELHAUN Margaret HOSPELHORN married Daniel GUTSHALL son of Nicholas March 16. 1817, Daniel purchased land at Zanesville Land Office in 1818 but is listed as a resident of Harrison Co. at the time of the purchase. Daniel along with his brother John served in the War of 1812. Daniel had Abraham, Susan, John, Phillip, Daniel, George, Mary Margaret, Mary Ann, Alexander, Solomon, and Margaret who died young. I have the Hospelhorn/Haspelhaun genealogy back to Prussia 1600s for anyone working on this line. STAHL/STALL Jacob STAHL came from MD in the early 1800s his daughter, Catherine, married Abraham Gotschall 1843 and later moved to Meigs Co., Ohio. The first I find him in Meigs is on the 1860 census. I cannot find him on the 1850 census. SHILLING Elizabeth SHILLING married Jacob STAHL I believe in MD and I also believe some of her SHILLING relatives moved into Harrison Co. when them, possibly her parents. If anyone has info on the SHILLING surname in Harrison please contact me. I would like to talk to anyone working on any of these surnames. You all have a great day and hope to hear from some of you. Hi, list -- These are some of my surnames. They were among the early settlers of the county, and most moved there from Pennsylvania. So, entire 19th century (1800s) but not much interest from me near the end of the century -- most moved farther west by then, though I am SURE I still have relatives in the county. Mostly around Cadiz and New Athens. Susan Osburn

I'm searching for descendants of the children of Philip and Mary CARREL who were John, Mary, Joseph, Margaret, Anthony, Catherine, Henry, Jane and Philip (Jr) CARREL, all born between 1798 and 1813, probably in Pennsylvania. This family was in Jefferson County, Ohio by 1812. The father Philip died in December 1813 while on active duty, 2nd U.S. Artillery, probably stationed at Fort Meigs. His heirs (above) were still in the Jefferson / Harrison / Carroll County area in 1835. Five of these children had a court appointed legal guardian who was James TORRENCE. Eric
