    3. Hi List, Well, I guess that my Duncan Oliphant must be the spirit of the Oliphant clan, because he just appeared in 1811 at Harrison County, Ohio out of nowhere. And his wife Sarah Beamer must be the spirit of the Beamers, for she did the same thing. I guess this could be Harrison Counties immaculate reception.     2. My main family line in Harrison Co. is the Thomas BOOTH(E) family in the Short Creek Township area. Documents show he ran a tavern in the area. Thomas [?- abt. 1842] was born in PA, possibly York Co. He moved the family to Washington Co., PA, then to Harrison Co., OH. He was married to Susanna. Their children were: 1. John Booth mentioned in Oxford Twp., Tuscawaras Co., OH and a witness in the 1825 "Post-Boy Murder" trial. Possibly moved to Muscatine, Illinois. 2. Aaron Booth, said to have married Nancy Long. 3. Catherine Booth 4. Ann Booth 5. Jacob Booth, living in Short Creek Twp., Harrison Co. around 1815-1820. 6. Isaac Booth [1779-1853] m. Leah Arbuckle, who lived in Carroll Co. and had the following children: Joseph [b. 1829 in Harrisville, Harrison Co., OH and m. Agnes Workman, m. Mary McDonald], Hannah [m. Joseph Tripp], and James. The family line goes back to Cogans who were living in Sandy Twp., Tuscarawas Co., Ohio by 1820. The name was often spelt Kogan, along with other variations. It seems likely that this family came from Bedford Co., Pa., and were of German origin. (They were almost certainly not Irish or English. They were quite likely related to the Kooken family of this area.) There appear to have been 5 brothers: Jacob, Daniel, Samuel, John, Michael and Joseph, born between 1790 and 1815, all of whom had at least one son. I've found a listing for a Gamble cemetery in Harrison county on the Harrison county web page. The listing says its in Archer Township, 3.75 miles north of Cadiz on Cadiz-Jewett Road (Route 9).
