Heavilin's wife. It is Welborne and not Williams. He had 7 children. The last whereabouts of the family was Rockford County, Ohio in 1900, but James I was not listed, so I assumed he died before than. The only birth date I have for Samuel O. D. Heavilin, born 31 Jan 1849. That date was taken from the Harrison County, Ohio site and posted by Janet Birney. Enoch Jackson, one of the children was a grandfather of Linda Beason, who has a message on the message board about him. She may have more info on the family.

Hello, this is my first post to this list. I am looking for information on my Wheaton/Bradly ancestors. I have some detailed information, but it doesn't go back very far. I'll outline what I have. Oldest ancestor is James Wheaton. He married Martha Bradly and had my great-grandafther Jasper E. Wheaton in 1869, Cadiz, OH. Martha and Jasper are listed in the 1880 census living as paupers in the Harrison County Infermary run by Alax English, James is not listed. Jasper married Anna AdeliaC uster in 1900, Harrison County, OH, and married Catherine Bernadette McGinnis in 1909 in Steubenville, OH. Jasper and Anna had one son, Paul Custer Wheaton. I know very little about him. Jasper and Catherine had four sons: Ambrose Joseph, Gregory Michael (my grandfather), a living son and William Grief (named after his godparents). I would very much like additional information on James and Martha, to try and trace them back farther. And I would love to know what happened to the family that James disappeared and Martha and Jasper ended up living in a poorhouse. Oh, and Jasper changed his first name to Joseph later in life when he became a Catholic. Please get in touch of this rings a bell. Thank you! Karin Brown [email protected]

Sorry to hear of the demise of the Eastern Star units in Harrison County. My Grandmother, Eleanor Worstell Henderson was an active member for many years. Somewhere around here I have her membership pin. J.R. Maxwell
Greetings, listmembers, I've recently discovered an obituary for an Abraham SNYDER published in a newspaper in Centre County, Pennsylvania: His obituary from the DEMOCRATIC WATCHMAN (Bellefonte, Pa.) of 28 Sep 1894: "Abram Snyder died at his home in Cassville, Ohio, on Fri. morning. A number of years ago he lived at Houserville, this county, where he married Barbara Houser, who survives him." It is my belief that his wife was Barbara (ROLLER) HOUSER, widow of Martin HOUSER, a cousin of mine. Would it be possible for someone to check the cemetery book for Moorefield Township and let me know if Abram and Barbara are buried there (likely at Cassville), and what is on the gravestones? I would be most happy to provide the information I have on Barbara and her first husband and their family if anyone is interested. That family lived in Centre County, Pennsylvania. Thanks for any help on this matter. Adam Sawvel/Sabel b. 1761 married Anna Catherine Schilling. Believe that I have now found her parents. They are both buried at the Zion Lutheran Cemetery. However, her maiden name has been entered as Angel on her tombstone - which can not be proven.

I suspect John was born about 1800. I do not know who his first wife was, but his second wife was Elizabeth Shearer (daughter of Joseph Shearer of Harrison Co.) John and Elizabeth were married 14 Jan 1836 in Harrison County. It is possible John has a brother named Henry (married Lydia Ann Shearer) and Margaret 'Peggy' (married Benjamin Shearer). Lydia Ann, Benjamin and Elizabeth Shearer are all children of Joseph Shearer (his second wife was Anna Maria 'Mary' Hagey). Any help in locating John Shawver and his descendants would be greatly appreciated.
What township is Jewett located in? Bev.
Would anyone be researching the family of John SHILLING who married Mary Unknown. I would like to determine the parents and children of this family. John Shilling was born MD and first shows up on the 1820 census in Harrison. He died September 28, 1850 and is buried in the Old Zion Lutheran Cemetery, Rumley Twp., Harrison Co., Ohio. Mary is also in Zion Lutheran Cemetery and she died May 10, 1842. Would greatly appreciate any help with this family. You all have a great day. Connie
Hi, Anyone know if the courthouse will lookup, copy and send copies of wills? If not, is there anyone on this list that is available to lookup and copy a couple of wills for me in Harrison Co., Ohio? I will be happy to pay for this service. Has any of you used a paid researcher to do this type of work in Harrison Co. that you would recommend? Thanks and have a great day.
