I have resubscribed to the list, and noticed a discussion from last month about the accuracy of a will index. I just wanted to point out to fellow researchers something I discovered this last week about indexes in the court records when I ordered the microfilm for use in my FHC. I ordered microfilm copies of the wills index for Harrison County which covers all the volumes of wills; and also the first microfilm which contains the first few actual will books. Each volume had its own index. I found several discrepancies between the master index and the individual indexes for just my surnames. Such a high level of error for only two surnames leads me to believe there is a good chance of error in the indexes. I also consulted a deed grantor/grantee index (again a microfilm copy of the original held at the county.) and was surprised that I could only find the purchase of a property by two ancestors, but no indication that it had been sold or transfered later. Can anyone with experience with Harrison County land records offer any ideas why this might be the case? I went to the end of the index, so time frame doesn't appear to be the issue. One of the people died between 1830 and 1840, and the other probably sold his land around 1846. Thanks in advance. Joe Wright, Chicago

Breene in the 1900 census for Harrison County in Jewett ohio but he was the son of a Harry Hooker Breene and his mothers name was Blanche M. Gray. The Blanche fits your quiery but it was his mother. I have info from the 1900 census for Jewette but did not find them in the 1910 census. I also have a e-mail address of a person who posted info on this family if you want it. e-mail me.
List, Looking for any information on: Alfred BIBEY - worked as watchman for the railroad in Jewett. Anna May PHILLIPS/Bibey. Or any relatives, friends, etc. They moved to Germano and lived there until my Grandmother died in 1951. My Aunt gave and sold everything of value on the death of my Grandmother including I believe the family Bible. So, if anyone in the area has a piece of furniture, pictures, dishes, etc. and remember buying at a sale at the house or from a used furniture store, maybe there is a clue to especially my Grandmothers relatives in the area. Her father was Elijah PHILLIPS who was from Harrison Co I believe. Her mother was Anna Eliza DOULING/Phillips, and we are not sure where she was born, maybe Pennsylvania, West Virginia or Virginia, all were given on different census. So, if anyone remembers this family, please e-mail me, any information would be appreciated. Alice California
Tunnel Hill Cemetery is in Monroe Twp. Harrison County. The Harrison County Genealogical Society read the Cemetery in 2000, and they have a book available to buy. The book is called Monroe Twp. Cemetery, Harrison Co., 2000. They will also do lookups for you. Hobe Stroud told me there was a Confederate Soldier burried in the left back corner of Patterson Cemetery, Franklin Township. I couldn't find his tombstone or marker. Anyone know the story ?? Thanks, Debbie
Isn't Tunnel Hill listed in one of the Harrison COunty Gen Society Books that they have done, I think it is Monroe Township, but I could be mistaken... I got my copy at the Cadiz public library. It also tells if there is no stone there. or worn. I only copied the ones I was interested in, like a dumby. It is called Tunnel Hill cemetary Register. If I can get back down there I will get the rest of the sheets I am missing. Please when you download the picture of the church will you send me a copy. I only have a regular camera. The pages I have don't have your family though. Do you live down by there. You should stop in to the church at service and see if they have any records. Lots of my family went to that church years ago. Sandy

I haven't downloaded them from the camera yet though. Definitely looked like the church is in use. The sign at the end of road was decorated for fall and a sign said worship is at 10:30. I'd be interested in copies of stone readings that have been made in the past. Have they been published? How can I get a listing? I could get photos of more graves if I could get a listing to go by. My husband's STONERs and SNIDERs are buried just on the other side of the church. However, I've got pension papers that say David STONER is buried there, but I've never found a stone for him. Also, David & Christena SNIDER's stones are down, been laying face up for years probably and I can't read them. If a reading was done many years ago, it might reveal the stone's info that is now unreadable. Also, are there any church records that anyone knows about? I asked the Harrison list once, but no one knew of any. --Celia :o)

I don't know why either. The last time I was down there it looked like the church had been fixed up. It has new windows and curtains. Does anyone know if they have church service there any more? I might go down tomorrow or next Saturday, if I do I will get some pictures. I will try to get more pages of people that are buried there. I only got the pages that had my family on them. So then if anyone is interested in who is buried there I will do look ups on the names. It just list there names and parents and spouse and born and death. I will let everyone know.
Contact the Cadiz public library. They have a nice Genealogy department. There is also a Historical center next door that does look ups. I'm looking for Obediah and Rebecca Patterson in the 1860 census. However, I do not know where to look as in 1850 they lived in Deersville, Harrison Co - which is not an option in 1860. I wondered what that area became so that I may search for them. Any help you may give me is greatly appreciated. -JO (Jeanne)
