    1. Enoch Jones of [OHHARRIS] Delinquent Tax List 1834 & 1824
    2. H. Wayne Beck
    3. Does anyone know more about the family of the second name, Enoch Jones, from the list below? I have an ancestor, Hannah Jones, who married Thomas Batton on 8 Dec 1807 in Harrison Co. I am guessing that she could have been born about 1765 if she were the wife of Enoch Jones who had probate on 21 Jul 1804 in Harrison Co. Could this Enoch Jones be the son of the older Enoch Jones? 1. [OHHARRIS] Henderson MD>PA>Harrison Co., OH
    2. Most of the Henderson line after they arrived in Harrison Co., has been well researched. Saundra Gibbs has a GEDCOM at rootsweb worldconnect. And also see the McPeck genealogy compiled by M F Percy in 1973. The mystery is the generation born in Ireland and Maryland. From the Hx of Carroll and Harrison Counties, Eckley, and by family oral history, John Henderson was b. ~1786 in Co. Derry, Ireland. He came to the U.S. at age 16, with some of his family. Either they landed in MD or they landed elsewhere and migrated to MD. He ran away when some of them decided to return to Ireland. He is said to have been reunited with a brother later in life; but the brother's name is not recorded. Lavina Henderson, d/o George Henderson "of Scotish descent", was b. 10/20/1795 in Harford Co., MD. After being "doubly orphaned" she was raised by an Uncle (name not known). There is a George Henderson in the 1800 census for Harford; but there are no white females under 16 in the household. George is not listed in the 1783 Assessment of Harford Co. It has been suggested that John and Lavina were m. in Hagerstown, Washington Co., MD; but they do not appear in the index for 1799- 1860. They are believed to have married in MD and then moved to Indiana Co., PA, where their first son, James was b. 9/10/1813. Their 2nd son, Matthew is believed to have been b. in October of 1816 or 1817, somewhere in MD. In 1816 the family moved to Harrison Co. and settled in Rumley twnshp. They had 9 additional children in Ohio. This same family oral hx is echoed in the biography of Sarah Henderson (b.~1823), d/o John and Lavina, and Lemuel Crawford in the Champaign Co., Illinois history. See at the Champaign Co., IL site of the USgenweb project. The biography lists Sarah as the sixth child, but I have her as the fifth. I wonder if there was another child born to John and Lavina, died before the 1850 census, and unknown to us? I would like to hear from others who are researching this family, or who have done research in MD and can provide suggestions on how else to research this line. J.R. Maxwell Delaware Co., OH John & Lavina>James m. Susanna McClintock>John C. m. Mahala Fisher> James Homer m. Ida Eleanor Worstell> Eleanor Worstell Henderson m. Joseph Maxwell> Robert Maxwell m. 3. John Clagett Proctor wrote a genealogy called "Johannes Heintz and his Descendants", published in 1918. I am a descendant, one generation removed from those in the book. I have a copy of the book, given me by my grandfather. The Williams listed in the index are: William; William C.; William Carmichael; William M., William McClelland; and William Wyckoff. 'William' appears on four pages: 15, 17, 18 and 30. Pg. 15--William Hines, the son of John Hines, died unmarried. Pg. 17--William, the third child of Citizen James Kennedy. Pg. 18--The 3rd son of C. J. Kennedy was b. 15 Nov 1820 and d. 18 Aug 1910. He married Nancy McDougal 17 Dec 1857. She was b. 29 Aug 1831; d. 18 Feb 1892. Their issue: a) Elisabeth Jane, b) Mary Maria, c) Herman Wilson, d) Anna Selina, and one child which died in infancy. Pg. 30--The only William on this page is William Kennedy, son of Philip Kennedy and Susan Jones. If there is anything else I can look up for you, please ask. Jim Barkley

    2. Don't know if you have checked out the Hines genealogy, published 1918. While it is not documented, it is a great source. Think you can get it through interlibrary loan. Title: Johannes Heintz and his descendants by john clagget Proctor. I am related to Mathew Kennedy, who married Christina Hines, daughter of John Hines, 3rd and wife Gertrude. I found your William married Peggy Jane Mc Beth, 18 Sept. 1858 in the Index to Lillie Porter Collection, Vol. 1. Hope this Helps. Aloha, Carol

They came to Harrison Co. after 1800. They had the following children: Henry, Martha, Mary, Jacob, Amos, Hugh, Gardner, James, Nancy, John, Susannah. He died Aug. 10 1840 is Harrison Co, in the Scio area. We have been there to research through cemeteries, with no luck at finding his grave, or names of his ancestors. Does anyone have any info they would be interested in sharing???? Missy :)

I suggest that the following inscriptions be published for the sake of preservation:" John Mattern[ died ] June 7, 1861 in the 84 yr of his age....."Hear what the voice from heaven proclaims For all the pious dead Sweet is the saviour of their names and soft their sleeping bed.". "There is no evidence of the relationship of the following to the Mattern family but they may have been connected with the Tipton family: In memory of[Mary] wife of John Ross [died] Dec 9 1842 aged 41 yrs 7 mos 17 ds. Mary McCabe [died] Nov 5, 1829 in the 77th yr of her age. Harriet Hall Died May 14th 1850 aged 16 yrs 5 mos &27 days. Elizabeth Hall Died Jan 22, 1838 aged 10 yrs 5 mos &13 days. ******This cemetery is so hidden that it would have been missed! had it not been specially called to my attention. From the road about 300 yards away it looks like a clump of trees and bushes. Under the name of Shadrick, Shadrach Tipton appears in the 1790 Census of Huntingdon Co Pa. as the head of a family consisting of one free white male of 16 yrs and upwards, one free white male under16 yrs (evidently above Edmund) and two free white females including heads of families (dou btless Nancy N. Tipton, who later married John Mattern, and her mother). About 1805 John Mattern, son of George Mattern Sr. of Seven Stars, married Nancy and migrated to Harrison Co.,Oh. The Tiptons likely lived near the village named after them, between Tyrone and Altoona, now Blair Co., but formerly part of Huntingdon Co. It is possible that, like the matterns, they migrated from near Hagerstown, Md. soon after the Rev war." I, Mary McCartney, have tried to give this record exactly as it was recorded in the National Gen Quarterly of 1933- VolXX1"
