I am particularly interested in the John K. BARCROFT. I believe this is my g,g. grandfather. He was a tailor in Cadiz from the early 1830's on. If not an address any information you may have access to. Harriet

Reprints of JOHANNES HEINTZ AND HIS DESCENDANTS by John C. Proctor are often available from used book stores on-line. A good search engine (I use GOOGLE) will find them. Shop around, my copy cost $15, other sites wanted $50. I too am a descendant of Matthew and Christina Hines KENNEDY. In the Harrison / Tuscarawas area of Ohio, I am searching for GIBSON, HINES, HOLLETT, KENNEDY, and VALLOW. Will be happy to exchange info with descendants of these families Steve Kennedy slkennedy@ev1.net San Antonio ----- Original Message ----- From: "Kathy Hines" <kathyhines326@dbscorp.net> To: <OHHARRIS-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Monday, November 24, 2003 3:01 PM Subject: Re: [OHHARRIS] Fw: Hines > Yup you are right. I would like to wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving. Janet List Admin
Carol, You probably know that I have one of the copies of the book "Johannes Heintz and His Descendants". Because a friend borrowed my mother's copy years ago, he made her a photocopy to go with the original. Both are indexed. As for research in Maryland or DC, I was living in Northern Virginia when my son was born and that got me interested in genealogy in the first place. We lived there for five years and part of my sales territory was in the District. I used to visit Nat. Arch. during my lunch hour. I'd call ahead to reserve a certain census book, have lunch at their cafeteria call on their Medical center and go up stairs to look at the census. Based on the Proctor book, we have driven by the former residences of Christian, John and the other members of the family. I've told many people about the tanning factory they once had across the street from what is now Woodward and Lothrop Dept. Store. When Christina married Matthew Kennedy, he bought a team and wagon from his father-in-law. I found the bill of sale in the District Court Records. It was witnessed by the father of Francis Scott Key. DC is a very interesting place to do genealogy if you ancestors lived there!!! If I can look anything up in the book, please ask. The original is getting rather worn, but the photocopy is identical and has lots of life left in it. Jim B.
Hi, Jim I was hoping we would here from you. You sent me a wonderful e-mail about these Hines and Kennedys some time back. I am back researching the Hines and Kennedy lines. Have you done any research in Maryland or DC area for these families. I am thinking of a trip back there for the Kennedys. Matthew lived in Georgetown, his brother Thomas in Hagerstown. Would love to actually prove these families. Nice to have your help. I only have a few pages of the Heintz genealogy. Keep in touch. Carol
Check with your local library or Family History Center. The library should be able to get a copy for you to use via interlibrary loan. The Title is:Johan Heintz and his descendants. Good luck. Aloha, Carol

Christina Elizabeth Hines did m. Matthew Kennedy. She had a brother named John Hines IV and a son named John L. Kennedy. Johannes Heintz came to this country with three sons, one of whom was Johannes II. That son had a son, Johannes III. Both of the younger Johanneses quickly changed their names to John Hines II and III. Jim B.
Yup you are right. Confusing. Where do we get a copy of the Hines genealogy? Kathy, All I have on the father of John Hines is John Hines, 3rd. Think we need a copy of the complete Heintz genealogy. Aloha, Carol
Hi, Kathy My John Hines was the father of Christina Hines (b. 1776 d. 1836). She was the wife of my Matthew Kennedy. They had two children with Hines in their names, but no John. Confusing? Aloha, Carol
Does anyone have index to a Harrison Co. Death Index? I am curious to know the dod of Christopher Hines (in 1850 Harrison Co. census, but not listed with his wife in the 1860 census), William McBeth (b. abt. 1802 and listed in the 1870 Harrison Co. Census-Franklin Twshp.), and his son Joseph (born abt. 1835, married Sarah Moore June 16, 1881 in Harrison Co.--but can not locate him after the 1880 census). Thank you. Kathy
Hi Carol, It's me again. I just looked in the 1850 Harrison Co. Census, and noted that Wm. Hines' father Christopher also had a daughter Christina. Who was the father of your John Hines? Just wondering.
