I've kept a reply you sent me in August 1998 that pretty well confirmed that my Hubers and yours are not connected. William Kahler (1812-1892) married Louise Huber (1856-1914) when he was 67, and they had three children (strange but true) who died in 1887 of diptheria, then had Wm GC Kahler, who was my ggrandfather. Louise remarried David Schwan and they had two sons. Louise was the daughter of Carl Huber (1814-1882) and Elizabeth Huber (1816-1888) whose maiden name appears to have been Huber. I have no further information beyond Carl and Elizabeth. I have, however, found a descendent of one of Louise's brothers, also named Carl, and have enjoyed sharing stories and photos. My Hubers came from Thaleischiweiler, Alsace. I wish I knew more. My Kahlers came from Hilherburg Amt Traihesse Rurchessen (Germany).
