Hi Tom, I have microfilm copies of the index to the Hardin Co. death records to 1908, the corresponding death records, and the index to the State records that started sometime in Dec. 1908 on indefinite loan from the Salt Lake Family History Library at the Family History Center nearest to me in Huntington Beach, CA. I don't know where in CA. you are. If you are near Huntington Beach, you can come and look at them there, or I can try to check them for you next Wednesday. I volunteer there every Wednesday morning and it will depend on how busy we are. The death records from Dec. 20, 1908 thru 1944 are kept at the Ohio Historical Society. They have some of the indexes on-line there (1913- 1937) and you can find instructions on how to request a copy and how much money to send at their web site: http://www.ohiohistory.org/ On the opening page, click on Archives/Research Tools on the left side. Could he have died in a hospital not in Hardin Co.? If that might be the case, they sometimes went to a hospital in Columbus. I also have the index and death records for Franklin Co. on indefinite loan. Another possibility might be Findlay, or Lima? Hope this helps.
